You Make Me Smile

Hi again!  Further to the deadline catch-up, I have another card for you.  So glad I am feeling better…

Design Team Time for Facebook’s Case-ing Tuesday (#562).  Where we select cards from the Catalogs and remake them as we are inspired.  Today’s inspiration can be found on page 68 of the Jan – Apr Mini Catalog and it is the last one.  Next week we will be featuring card sketches from the new May – August 2026 Catalog.

My design choices were influenced by: Little Red Wagon (#855) to use Recycled Materials and choosing the Color Hues (#131) suggested Color Combo.

Here is the result:

GEARS & TEXTURES – NATURE’S SYMPHONY – CT562 – LRW855 – TCH131

Steps:

  • Card Base: (8½” x 5½” scored at 4¼”) Garden Green cardstock.
  • Background Panel: (3¼” x 5⅜”) Kraft Slit Cut Packing Material
    • A piece of this packing material was cut and using the Calypso Coral Ink Pad, color was applied by dragging the ink over the textured paper and then trimming to the desired size.
  • Panels: Business Envelope inside section cut into 3 Strips (2¼” x 5”).
    • Using the Stampin’ Brayer, both Garden Green and Calypso Coral inks were added to the Panels.
    • The Panels were trimmed and hand-torn measuring approximately (1¾”x 3⅞” – Green) and (1½” x 3⅞” – Coral).
  • Sentiment Shape – Circle: Basic Black cardstock scrap.
    • The Grunge Circle image from the Gears & Textures stamp set was stamped with Versamark ink and heat-set with Silver Embossing Powder.
    • The sentiment, You Make Me Smile, from the Nature’s Symphony stamp set was also stamped with Versamark ink over top of the Circle and heat-set with White Embossing Powder and then die-cut with the (2⅛”) Stitched Circle die from the Stylish Shapes Dies set.

All elements were adhered to the card base to resemble the sketch.  The Garden Green Panels were supported by a few Mini Dimensionals along the outside edge and the sentiment was popped up with Dimensionals.  A (4¼”) length of Orange / Green Metallic Yarn in my stash was cut and added to complete the card.

Do you hoard materials that your better half keeps trying to add to the trash bin?  I do and he certainly rolls his eyes.  Yet it is fun to play these materials, repurposing them for an interesting card.

Thanks for spending some more of your time with me today.  Cheers,  Jolanda!

  1. Sorry to hear you were under the weather, but glad you are feeling better. This is such a cool card and love that it is made from some recycled products in your house. Love the patterns and texture too. Thanks for playing along at Color Hues.
