Gallery Blooms – Happy Birthday

Welcome back!  Glad to be back.  We had a 24-hour power failure due to those strong pop-up summer storms yesterday and I think I had withdrawal symptoms.

Anyway, catching up with Facebook’s Stampin’ Through The Catalog featured stamp set, Gallery Blooms, and pairing it with the Color Hues (#112) Palette and selecting to create a Silhouette card for Seize the Birthday (#308).

Here is the result:

GALLERY BLOOMS – CHARMING DAY – STTC – TCH112 – STB308

Steps:

  • Card Base: (8½” x 5½” scored at 4¼”) Peach Pie cardstock.
  • Accent Mat: (3⅜” x 4⅝”) Blueberry Bushel cardstock.
  • Focal Panel: (3¼” x 4½”) Watercolor Paper.
    • The back of the Watercolor Paper was sprayed with water that was added to a Stampin’ Spritzer bottle, available as an On-Line Exclusive product, to prevent paper curl.
    • Peach Pie and Blueberry Bushel inks were added to a Clear Block, spritzed with water, allowed to mingle and then pressed into the Watercolor Paper.
    • I used a Wide-Tipped Craft Paint Brush to do a little additional mixing of the colors.
    • I also pressed a folded paper towel onto the stamped ink block to pick up excess water and lighten the density of the colors.
    • I sped up the drying process with the aid of the Heat Tool.
    • Once dry, the Peony/Rose Floral image from the Gallery Blooms stamp set was stamped with Memento Tuxedo Black ink as was the sentiment, Happy Birthday, from the Charming Day stamp set, a new On-Line Exclusive product available in July.

Adhere the layers and we are done.  I added a few dark blue retired Rhinestone Waves Basic Jewels for a bit of bling.  Simple Stamping, just stamps, ink and paper.

A pretty birthday card.

Thanks for spending some of your time with me today.  Cheers,  Jolanda!

  1. Jolanda, This pretty card certainly caught my attention at Color Hues and thrilled to also see it in the gallery at Seize the Birthday too. My favorite part is the uneven color results due to the watercolor paper. I also think vertical sentiments add something special too. Thanks for playing along at both challenges.

  2. Jolanda, you did a wonderful job with inking the clear block and getting beautiful colors without any muddying, which those colors could easily do. Plus, the texture of the paper shows through, which looks wonderful, as does the pretty flower. Thank you so much for sharing over at Color Hues!

  4. What a lovely card. The watercolor panel makes a great background for that pretty floral image you used as a silhouette. Thanks for sharing with us at Seize the Birthday.
