You’re A Star – Sweet Bear

Happy Weekend!  Hoping you have some time set aside to be creative.

A number of challenges influenced this cute Bear card.

Festive Friday (#175) for Bear, Brown, Red, Coloring Technique and Friend Sentiment; Double Trouble (#182) to use Three Colors (Red, Kraft and White), Two Layers minimum and One Cuddly Image; Color Hues (#101) for Red and Kraft Colors; Shopping Our Stash (#538) to add Stars; and bringing it all together the Try A Sketch On Tuesday (#661) Layout which I rotated to better fit my design elements.

Here is the result:

COUNT ON ME – PICTOGRAM PUNCHES – WOOD WORDS – GORGEOUS GRUNGE – FF0175 – DT172 – THC101 – SOS538 – TSOT661

Steps:

  • Card Base: (8½” x 5½” scored at 4¼”) Real Red cardstock.
  • Accent Panel: (5¼” x 4”) Basic Beige cardstock.
  • Background Panel: (5⅛” x 3⅞”) Pecan Pie cardstock.
    • The sentiment, You’re a Star, from the retired Pictogram Punches stamp set was stamped with Versamark ink and heat-set with White Embossing Powder.
    • The Panel was then dry-embossed with the Timber 3D Embossing Folder.
  • Cross Strip: (5⅛” x ½”) Basic White cardstock scrap.
    • The Diagonal Dash image from the retired Gorgeous Grunge stamp set was stamped with Real Red ink and Alternate Dashes were colored with the Light Pecan Pie Stampin’ Blends Marker.
  • Shapes – Stars and Bear: Pecan Pie cardstock scraps.
    • The Bear image from the retired Count on Me stamp set was stamped with Versamark ink and heat-set with White Embossing Powder.
    • Using a Fine-Tipped Craft Paint Brush, Bleach was applied to the Bear to lighten the color (result – a light yellow).  Color was added back by coloring the Bear with the Dark Crumb Cake Stampin’ Blends Marker.  The Bear’s Eye and Nose was colored with the Basic Black Stampin’ Write Marker.
    • The Star image from the retired Wood Words stamp set was stamped twice with Versamark ink and also heat-set with White Embossing Powder.
    • The Bear and the Stars were fussy-cut with Paper Snips.

All elements were adhered to the card base to resemble the rotated sketch with the Bear popped up with Dimensionals

  1. Aww, I haven’t used bleach in a long long time, but it turned out great for coloring your cute little bear! Thanks for sharing with us at Double Trouble.

  4. Loving your take on our sketch. Very creative! Great idea to heat emboss with white for the bear outline, the stars and sentiment, especially with the darker background panel. Thanks for joining us at Try A Sketch On Tuesday.
