Up & Away – Birthday Balloon Adventures

Welcome back!  A little birthday card for you today…

A couple of challenges are looking for Balloons: Shopping Our Stash (#527) and Crafter’s Café (#310).  Then comes along a Sketch from Tuesday Morning (#768) that is ideal for a set of Balloons.  Only thing left is the Color choice and I picked the happy brights suggested by TGIF (#484).

Here is the result:

Steps:

• Card Base: (8½” x 5½” scored at 4¼”) Melon Mambo cardstock.
• Balloons: Daffodil Delight, Melon Mambo and Pretty in Pink cardstock scraps.
  • Daffodil Delight Balloon:  The large Hot Air Balloon die from the retired Up & Away Thinlits Dies set was traced with a Pencil and fussy-cut with Paper Snips.  The Birthday sentiment from the retired Balloon Adventures stamp set was stamped with Memento Tuxedo Black ink.  The Cross Hatch patterned image from the retired Medley Mix stamp set was added to the Balloon with Daffodil Delight ink.
  • Melon Mambo Balloon:  The cardstock scrap was die-cut with the medium Hot Air Balloon die.  The Floral patterned image from the Medley Mix stamp set was added to the Balloon with Melon Mambo ink.
  • Pretty in Pink Balloon:  Similarly, the small Hot Air Balloon die was used and the Stiped patterned Balloon image from the Balloon Adventures stamp set was added with Pretty in Pink ink.
• Background Panel: (5¼” x 4”) Basic White cardstock.
  • The Balloons were temporally adhered to the panel and the Bow and Streamer images from the Balloon Adventures stamp set were stamped on to the Daffodil Delight Balloon. Using my Black Fine-Tipped Liquid Gel Pen, I added Bows and Strings to the other two Balloons.
  • The Balloons were removed and the panel was dry-embossed with the retired Festive Textured Impressions Embossing Folder.

All elements were adhered to the card base to resemble the sketch which I flipped to the horizontal position and the Pretty in Pink Balloon was popped up with Dimensionals.

A quick and easy fun birthday card!
