Layers of Country Roses

Wednesdays are always busy days in the Studio as that is Class Day and I sometimes do not have time to create for challenge deadlines.

I wanted to play with the As You See It (#321) lovely Color palette (adding a green tone for my one neutral).  But what to do with them?  I selected the Floral Vase image from the Inkspirational (#314) Mood Board and the general sketch type layout presented by the TGIF (#469) Inspiration image for an overall total Floral design.

Let’s play with the new Layers of Beauty Decorative Masks available in May.

Here is the result:

LAYERS OF BEAUTY DECO MASKS – COUNTRY FLOWERS – AYSI321 – IC314 – TGIFC469

Steps:

  • Card Base: (8½” x 5½” scored at 4¼”) Basic White cardstock.
  • Accent Panel: (5¼” x 4”) Flirty Flamingo cardstock.
  • Focal Panel (5⅛” x 3⅞”) Basic White cardstock.
    • There are five (5) Stencils / Masks in the set all notched for easy lining up.
    • Mask (1): Bubble Bath added with a Blending Brush to the Roses and Daffodil Delight added with a Sponge Dauber to the Posies.  The few bits of Greenery were colored with Soft Sea Foam using a Sponge Dauber.
    • Mask (2): Bubble Bath for the Roses, Daffodil Delight for the Posies and Soft Sea Foam for the Greenery.
    • Mask (3): Flirty Flamingo for the Roses and Calypso Coral for the Posies.
    • Mask (4): Soft Sea Foam for the Greenery, now using a Blending Brush as the surface area is larger.
    • Mask (5): Mint Macaron (retired) for the Greenery.
    • The sentiment, sending love, from the Country Flowers stamp set was stamped with Calypso Coral ink.
    • The panel was then dry-embossed with the retired Subtle 3D Embossing Folder, as the overall floral reminded me of a Kitchen Towel print.

What a pretty clean and simple card.  A bit of patience and you have a #simplestamping card.  Just stamps, ink and paper and a set of great masks.  So many possibilities with the card and sentiment.

  1. Jolanda, I love everything about this card, from the soft and beautiful stencilling to the use the subtle embossing. It’s such a shame that green is not one of the colours of the challenge as this is such a stunner of a card. Thanks for sharing it with us at As You See It. It’s always a pleasure to have you join us.

  2. I love the effect of embossing after the stenciling is done. It almost looks like embroidery or oil painting. Thanks for joining us at As You See It!
