Sunshine and Rainbows

Welcome to Sunday and the newest Paper Players (#684) challenge.  This week, Anne Marie has given us a lovely colorful Inspiration Board entitled Sunshine & Rainbows.  Let’s have some fun!

I combined this week’s challenge with a few others that have a similar theme: Inspired By (#283) for the Sketch, Colors and Umbrellas; Four Seasons (April) April Showers; Simply Clean & Simple (#10) Weather and sharing with Ellibelle’s I Spy (#13) Something Yellow.

Here is the result using heavy weight Watercolor Paper:

PLAYING IN THE RAIN – PP684 – IB283 – TFSC April – SCS010 – EIS013

Steps:

  • Card Base: (8½” x 5½” scored at 4¼”)
  • Background Panel: (4” x 5¼”)
    • Using both the Wide-Tipped and Fine-Tipped Water Painter Brushes, the Stylized Rainbow and Sun were hand painted with Daffodil Delight, Granny Apple Green and Real Red inks.  The ink was picked up from a block that had been pressed into the ink pads.
  • Focal Image – Fox with Umbrella: (3” x 2½”)
    • The Fox image from the Playing in the Rain stamp set was stamped with Memento Tuxedo Black ink and colored with Stampin’ Blends Markers.  Colors chosen: Umbrella – Light Granny Apple Green; Hat – Light Real Red: and Jacket – Light and Dark Daffodil Delight.
    • The image was fussy-cut with Paper Snips.

The card was assembled, and the Fox was popped up with Dimensionals.  I intentionally left the card blank.

Free hand water coloring gives the card a whimsical air and the bright colors are so much fun.  A child’s card, a pick-me-up card, a get-well card, a friendship card or a birthday card.  All are possibilities.

Thanks for spending some of your time with me today and I hope you will consider joining us with this week’s Paper Player’s challenge.  I would love to see what to create.  Cheers,  Jolanda!
