Nature – Earth Day – You’re in my Thoughts

Welcome back!  Today I am celebrating Earth Day as there are several challenges…in the spirit of re-use and recycle, I pulled out an oldy but a goody stamp set: Lovely as a Tree.

Festive Friday (#156); Double Trouble (#163) partnering with Inspiration Station (#60); Retro Rubber (#227) for the Colors of Nature; and bringing it all together with the current Sunday Stamps (#322) Sketch.

Here is the result:

LOVELY AS A TREE – INKED & TILED – IN THE MOMENT -FF0156 – DT163 – ISC60 – RRCB227 – SSC322

Steps:

  • Card Base: (8½” x 5½” scored at 4¼”) Early Espresso cardstock.
  • Accent Panel: A recycled Kraft Paper Bag repurposed with torn edges approximately (5¼” x 4”).
  • Focal Panel: (5” x 3¾”) Basic White cardstock.
    • The Tree-scape image from the retired Lovely as a Tree stamp set (circa 2002) was stamped onto a Silicone Craft Sheet with Memento Tuxedo Black ink.
    • The cardstock panel was pressed onto the ink to create a mirror / reverse refection image.
    • With the aid of the Stamp-a-ma-jig Positioning Tool, the Tree-scape image was stamped again with Memento Tuxedo Black ink to line up with the reflection.
    • Using a Sponge Dauber, Pecan Pie ink was added to represent the ground.
    • Using a Blending Brush, Balmy Blue ink was added to the sky area and below for the water area.
    • The Lines image from the Inked & Tiled stamp set was stamped a few times with Balmy Blue ink to represent water ripples.
    • The bottom of the panel was torn and sponged with Pecan Pie ink.
  • Sentiment Strip: (4⅞” x ½”) trimmed piece from the Kraft Paper Bag.
    • The sentiment, You’re in my thoughts, from the In the Moment stamp set was stamped with Early Espresso ink and a bit of Linen Thread was wrapped and tied around the left edge.

So, lets recap.

Festive Friday elements: Neutrals, Recycled Item, Twine, Sentiment, Trees and Water.

Double Trouble elements: Recycled Kraft Paper, Shades of Blue and partner with Inspiration Station.

Inspiration Station elements: Our planet Earth is all that we have and I strive to protect my little piece of it.

Retro Rubber elements: Black – Memento; Brown – Pecan Pie and Early Espresso, Blue – Balmy Blue; and White – Cardstock.

Sunday Stamps element: A refection…

I wish I had thought to use this stamp as well but you have inspired me to get the stamp off of the shelf and use it soon.
