Rainy Days – All Weather Friends

Welcome to Sunday and the newest Paper Players (#679) challenge.  This week, Claire has selected the theme Rainy Days.  I was inspired by the bottom left Window and the upper right Rain Boots.

I opted to use the Triple Play colors suggested by Color Dare (#590) and CASE (Copy and Selectively Edit) a card created by Vicki Dutcher for Just Us Girls (#716).  Although not a shaker card, I have used an acetate Window Sheet and a Frame to create my scene.

Here is the result:

PLAYING IN THE RAIN – NO MATTER THE WEATHER – SUNSHINE & SMILES – PP679 – CD590 – JUGS716

Steps:

  • Card Base: (8½” x 5½” scored at 4¼”) Crushed Curry cardstock.
  • Background Panel Top: (4” x 2¼”) Basic White Thick cardstock dry-embossed with the retired Subtle 3D Embossing Folder.
  • Background Panel Bottom: (4” x 3”) Basic White Thick cardstock dry-embossed with the retired Simple Stripes Textured Impressions Embossing Folder.
  • Chair Rail Trim: (4” x ½”) and (4” x ¼”) Basic White Thick cardstock scraps.
  • Window Frame: (3” x 3½”) Basic White Thick cardstock die-cut with the Window Frame die from the retired Hearth & Home Framelits Dies set.
  • Glass Pane: (2½” x 3¼”) Acetate Window Sheet.
    • The Rain Drops image from the Playing in the Rain stamp set was stamped with Stazon – Royal Purple ink from my collection.
  • Window View: (2½” x 3¼”) Green, Yellow, Blue Haze Scenery patterned piece of paper from the On-Line Exclusive Meandering Meadows Designer Series Paper pack.
  • Rainboots: Basic White Thick cardstock scrap.
    • The Rain Boots Outline image from the No Matter the Weather stamp set (March 2020 Paper Pumpkin Kit) was stamped with Mossy Meadow ink.
    • The Rain Boots in-Fill image from the same stamp set was stamped with Tahitian Tide ink (For Lagoon).
    • The Flowers and the Leaves in the Boot pattern were colored with Stampin’ Blends Markers.  Colors: Daffodil Delight (for Honey Butter) and Granny Apple Green (for Clover)
  • Sentiment Strip: (2⅞” x ¼”) Crushed Curry scrap.
    • The sentiment, Friends in any kind of weather, from the Sunshine & Smiles stamp set (February 2023 Paper Pumpkin Kit) was stamped with Memento Tuxedo Black ink.

The Acetate Window Frame was assembled as was the Wall.  The Window was popped up with Dimensionals.  The Boots were fussy-cut with Paper Snips and added to the scene along with the Sentiment which were also popped up with Dimensionals.

Isn’t it nice to be indoors on such a rainy day?  Even better when friends come to visit!

  2. I am loving your springy scene. The view through your window is wonderful, and I love the windswept raindrops. The detail of the “wainscoting” on the inside wall is fabulous. Looks like stucco above that. The boots are the perfect touch. Thanks so much for playing our CASE a DT Challenge at Just Us Girls.

  4. Your card is beautiful. Although your paper choice for the window perfectly fits the rainy day theme it includes colors not part of our Color Dare challenge. Please keep sharing your talent with us at Color Dare. We love seeing your work.
