Floral Cake – Happy Birthday

Catching up with a challenge or two…and playing with the Mood Board over at INKspirational (#310) incorporating elements from the Heart’s Quest (#49) A & B themes and bringing these ideas together with the current Tuesday Morning (#746) Sketch.

Here is the result:

HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO YOU – INCREDIBLE YOU – CHARMING SENTIMENYS – IC310 – HQCB49 – TMS746

Steps:

  • Card Base: (8½” x 5½” scored at 4¼”) Bubble Bath cardstock.
  • Background Panel: (5¼” x 4”) Basic White cardstock.
    • The top of the panel was punched with the retired Hearts Border Punch.
    • Block (1) was stamped with Bubble Bath ink using the 5-line image from the retired Incredible You stamp set.
    • Block (2) was stamped with both retired Mint Macaron and Memento Tuxedo Black slightly off-set using the sentiment stamp – Wishing You the Happiest of Birthdays from the Charming Sentiments stamp set for a shadow effect.
    • The panel was then dry-embossed with the Sale-a-bration Softly Sophisticated Embossing Folder.
  • Focal Image – Cake & Candle: Basic White cardstock scrap.
    • The Floral Cake image from the retired Happy Birthday To You stamp set was stamped with Memento Tuxedo Black ink.
    • The Cake was colored with Stampin’ Blends Markers.  Colors chosen: Flowers – Light and Dark Bubble Bath; Leaves – Light and Dark retired Mint Macaron; Cake – Light and Dark Soft Sea Foam; and Cake Stand – Light Pool Party.
    • A Candle was hand-drawn with my Fine-Tipped Black Liquid Gel Pen and colored with the Light Daffodil Delight and Dark Bubble Bath Stampin’ Blends Markers.
    • Both the Cake and the Candle were fussy-cut with Paper Snips.

The Cake was set to the right to accommodate the greeting and the completed panel was adhered to the card base so that the cut-out Hearts at the top would be pink.

Pink and Mint is a lovely color combination, and this is a very sweet birthday card.
