Thoughtful Expressions – Softly Sophisticated

Welcome back!  It had been a couple of busy days, but I wanted to post the card I made inspired by Michelle Last who was profiled on the Facebook Stampin’ Through the Catalog as a Guest Designer on February 15th.

She had a really cute card with an inside surprise.  I took inspiration from The Color Hues (#81) and the Tic Tac Toe (#241) for the flowers, stripes /dots, and color.  I am also sharing this card with Ellibelle’s Crafty Wednesday for February.

Here is the result:

THOUGHTFUL EXPRESIONS – SOFTLY SOPHISTICATED – STTC – TCH81 – TTTC241 – ECWC February 2024

Steps:

  • Card Base: (8½” x 5½” scored at 4¼”) Basic White cardstock.
  • Panels: (4” x 5¼”) Lost Lagoon Strip/Dot Fabric patterned piece of paper from the Poetic Expressions Designer Series Paper pack, Fresh Freesia and Basic White cardstock and the Thoughtful Expressions Dies set.
    • The Lost Lagoon piece was die-cut with the (3⅜” x 3⅜”) Scalloped die.*
    • The card front, Fresh Freesia and Basic White pieces were die-cut with the (3” x 3”) Scalloped die.
    • The Fresh Freesia and the Lost Lagoon pieces were adhered to the card front.
  • Inside card – Right Side: Using the *Lost Lagoon piece as a Mask, Soft Sea Foam ink was added with a Blending Brush.
    • The sentiment, You’re in my thoughts, from the Softly Sophisticated stamp set was stamped with Lost Lagoon ink positioned to show through the framed opening.
  • Inside card – Left Side: (3¾” x 3¾’) Vellum was adhered over the framed opening and finished off with the previously die-cut Basic White Panel.
  • Decoration – Hummingbirds and Flowers: (4¼” x 5½”) Basic White cardstock.
    • The Hummingbird and small Floral Spray images were stamped with Memento Tuxedo Black ink and colored with the Light Fresh Freesia and Lost Lagoon Stampin’ Blends Markers.
    • The images were die-cut with coordinating dies from the Thoughtful Expressions Dies set.
    • The images were stamped again onto a Silicone Craft Mat and the Basic White cardstock was pressed against it for the reverse or mirror image.
    • The images were colored similarly and fussy-cut with Paper Snips.

The die-cut images were adhered to the card front with Dimensionals and the fussy-cut images were adhered to the inside of the card with Stampin’ Seal making sure that the images matched up to the front ones.

Such a fun card to make.  Thanks for the inspiration, Michelle and Stampin’ Through the Catalog for inviting her to participate.

  1. Hi, Jolanda. I love this card…the one at the bottom of the post with the layers. I know this probably sounds ridiculous, but how in the devil did you get all your layers to line up? I cut as many of them together as I could, but no matter what I do, I can’t get them exact and when something like that is off, it makes me nuts. LOL

Thanks for any assistance you can provide!

Take care and have a wonderful weekend.
