Bold & Bright Birthday

Hi!  One more card for today.

I was intrigued with the color line up suggested by Paper Craft Crew (#547) this week.  As a Green Girl, I started out with Old Olive, Parakeet Party and Pretty Peacock…but the Old Olive looked too yellow with the other two.  So, I switched it out for Poppy Parade and was excited with that combination.

Concurrently, the layout at Sunday Stamps (#324) with a Large Sentiment begged for Bright Bold Colors.  I chose to keep the card simple for the Stampin’ Up! #simplestamping challenge for December and picked “Birthday” as my Celebration selecting a favorite retired set: Big on Birthdays.

Here is the result:

Steps:

• Card Base: (8½” x 5½” scored at 4¼”) Pretty Peacock cardstock.
• Background Panel: (3¾” x 5”) Parakeet Party cardstock.
  • The Floral Accent image was stamped with Pretty Peacock ink.
  • I stepped it up a little bit by dry-embossing the panel with the retired Tasteful Textile 3D Embossing Folder.  The texture just adds interest.
• Accent Mat: (3¼” x 4¼”) Poppy Parade cardstock.
• Focal Panel: (2¾” x 3¾”) Parakeet Party cardstock.
  • The sentiment block, Wishing You a Very Happy Birthday, was also stamped with Pretty Peacock ink.
  • The edge of the Floral Accent image was inked carefully with Pretty Peacock and added to the bottom right corner for additional decoration.

Just Stamps, Ink and Paper for a fun birthday celebration card.  Three Copper Clay 2023/2025 In-Color Dots were added for the embellishment as they toned in nicely with the Poppy Parade Accent Mat.
