Free Styling – Birthday Wishes

Tuesday!  A Design Team Challenge for Cardz 4 Guyz (#322) – National Bike Month Pi-Pedals.

I chose several challenges to help me create this card: Tic Tac Toe (#208) for the Masculine theme, a Square Shape and picking the color Blue for the Free Space based on Colorful Options (May) color choice; Seize the Birthday (#261) creating a Birthday Card using the Try Stampin’ On Tuesday (#606) sketch and sharing with Happy Little Stampers (May) as I used a die.

Here is the result:

GREATEST JOURNEY DIES – MOUNTAIN AIR – C4G322 – TTTC208 – COC May 2023 – STB261 – TSOT606 – HLS Dies May 2023

Steps:

  • Card Base: (8½” x 5½” scored at 4¼”) Pool Party cardstock.
  • Background Panel: (5¼” x 4”) Starry Sky Night patterned piece of paper from the now retired Enjoy the Journey Designer Series Paper pack.
  • Cross Strip: (5¼” x 2”) Blue Wave patterned piece of paper from the now retired By the Bay Specialty Designer Series Paper pack.
  • Accent Square: (2¾” x 2¾”) Basic White cardstock scrap.
  • Background Square: (2½” x 2½”) retired Mint Macaron cardstock scrap.
    • The Mountain image from the now retired Mountain Air stamp set was stamped with 2nd Generation (stamped off once) Starry Sky ink.
    • The Trees & Water image, also from the Mountain Air stamp set, was stamped with Starry Sky ink.
    • The sentiment, Birthday Wishes, from the Sending Smiles stamp set was also stamped with Starry Sky ink.
  • Focal Image – Mountain Bike Rider: Night of Navy cardstock scrap.
    • The Biker Rider was die-cut using that die from the now retired Greatest Journey Dies set.

All elements were adhered to the card base to resemble the sketch.  Both the Biker Rider and the Square Panel were popped up with Dimensionals.

A fun birthday card for a guy, especially a sporty one.

  3. Oh, Jolanda, I simply LOVE everything about your card! Your use of the “By the Bay” DSP was especially inspired for creating the horizontal element in our TSOT sketch!! Pulling the colors from that wave pattern to create your central image block was so clever!! Thank you for sharing your wonderful creative talents with us at Try Stampin’ on Tuesday!!! -Donna

  4. What an incredible card! I love the layout, the colors and your choice of DSP for this particular die cut. Especially appreciate you turning that wave pattern into what looks like a night landscape. That’s a really great idea.
