Go For It! – Let it Ride

Good Morning!  There is a new theme challenge over at Alphabet.  They are at the Letter “Z” and have chosen with word: ZODIAC. 

If, like me, who love to read your horoscope…you have two options: Western (I am a Capricorn – Goat) or Asian (I am a Boar). Two wheels which offer up Twenty-four options.  Today, I chose the Asian Wheel and the sign of the Horse.

I opted for the colors offered at Color Throwdown (#735) and the current Freshly Made Sketch (#578) to complete my design and am sharing with Use You Stuff (#480) for their current Animal theme.

Here is the result:

Steps:

• Card Base: (8½” x 5½” scored at 4¼”) Cajun Craze cardstock.
• Background Panel: (4” x 5¼”) Very Vanilla cardstock.
  • The sentiment, Go for it!, from the retired Let It Ride stamp set was stamped with Soft Suede ink.
  • The panel was then dry-embossed with the retired Subtle 3D Embossing Folder.
• Cross Strip: (4” x 1”) Dapper Denim (retired) scrap from my stash bin dry-embossed with the Cross-Hatch Basics 3D Embossing Folder.
• Accent Mat: (2⅝” x 3⅞”) Early Espresso cardstock.
• Focal Panel – Horse: (2½” x 3¾”) Very Vanilla cardstock.
  • The Running Horse image, from the same stamp set, Let It Ride was stamped with Stazon Timber Brown ink.
  • Another image was stamped on to Masking Paper and fussy-cut with Paper Snips.
  • Using Blending Brushes, Balmy Blue and Pear Pizzazz ink were added over the Mask for the Sky and Grass.
  • The Mask was removed and the Horse was water-colored with Cajun Craze (Body) and Soft Suede (Hoofs) inks using the Fine-Tipped Water Painter Brush.  The colors were picked up from a stamping block that was pressed into the stamp pad.

Once dry, all elements were adhered to the card base to resemble the sketch.  The focal panel was popped up with Dimensionals.

I love the power and gusto represented by this running Horse as well as the sentiment.  A super encouragement card.
