Oh, Happy Day – Playing in the Rain

Welcome back!  Has the time change knocked you off your game?  I cannot believe it is already the afternoon…

Anyway, today I am playing with the Atlantic Hearts (#515) Sketch with the new color set suggested by Paper Players (#631) using the Playing in the Rain stamp set.  It is a cool and dreary rainy day but I am hopeful that the sunshine will be out tomorrow!

Here is the result:

Steps:

  • Card Base: (8½” x 5½” scored at 4¼”) Basic White cardstock.
  • Background Panel: (5½” x 4¼”) Granny Apple Green Striped patterned piece of paper from the now retired Sale-a-bration Dandy Designs Designer Series Paper pack.
  • Cross Strip Panel: (5½” x 2½”) Daffodil Delight Floral piece of patterned paper from the 2022/2023 Brights Collection Designer Series Paper pack.
  • Center Cross Strip: Whisper White Flax Ribbon (retired)
  • Sentiment Circle: Basic White cardstock scrap.
    • The sentiment, Oh, Happy Day, was stamped with Granny Apple Green ink and then die-cut with the (2⅛”) Stitched Circle die from the Stylish Shapes Dies set.
  • Focal Image – Happy Rabbit: Basic White cardstock scrap.
    • The Rabbit was stamped with Memento Tuxedo Black ink.
    • The Rabbit’s Nose and Ears were colored with the retired Light Pirouette Pink Stampin’ Blend Marker.
    • The rest of the Rabbit image including the Water Puddle was water-colored with Smoky Slate and Tahitian Tide inks using the Fine-Tipped Water Painter Brush.
    • An Umbrella Handle was hand-drawn with the Basic Black Stampin’ Write Marker.
    • The Rabbit/Puddle/Umbrella Handle image was fussy-cut with Paper Snips.
    • Coat and Umbrella: Tahitian Tide Dotted patterned piece of paper from the 2022/2024 In-Color Collection Designer Series Paper pack.
      • The Rabbit’s Coat and the Fox’s Umbrella were stamped with Memento Tuxedo Black ink onto the patterned paper and fussy-cut.
  • Decoration – Daisies: Basic White cardstock scrap.
    • The Flower image was stamped with Memento Tuxedo Black ink and colored with Stampin’ Blends Markers.  Colors: Dark Daffodil Delight, Light Granny Apple Green and Tahitian Tide.
    • The Flowers were also fussy-cut.

All elements were adhered to the card base.  The Coat was Paper-Pieced in place and Happy Rabbit and his Umbrella were popped up with Dimensionals.  The Daisies were added, completing the card.

I love the expression on the Rabbit’s face, don’t you?

  1. Your little bunny looks quite happy with his umbrella, splashing in the puddles! I recognized that sketch too….great way to interpret it with the different layers! Thanks for playing with my colors this week at the Players!

  2. Jolanda that bunny looks like he’s having so much fun splashing in the puddles! I love the way you used the sketch too and incorporated your DSPs too. Thanks for sharing with us over at The Paper Players this week!
