Batter Up! – You’re the Best

Tuesday!  Design Team Challenge for Cardz 4 Guyz (#316) – Sporting Chance.  I have very little by the way of Sports themes in my collection…so, I opted for the May 2021 Paper Pumkin Kit – Batter Up! with a Baseball theme.

Additional Inspiration:  Inspired By (#225) for the colors and the boy’s themed bedroom and Retro Rubber (#200) for the sketch.

Here is the result:

Steps:

• Card Base: (8½” x 5½” scored at 4¼”) Smoky Slate cardstock.
• Top Cross Strip (4” x ⅞”) White/Blue Striped patterned piece of paper from one of the card fronts found in the Paper Pumpkin Kit.
  • The sentiment, All Star, from the included stamp set, Batter Up!,  was stamped into Versamark ink and then Pacific Point ink and heat-set with Clear Embossing Powder.
• Center Cross Strip: (4” x 1¼”) Real Red cardstock dry-embossed with the Stars from the retired Star-Crossed Embossing Folder.
• Bottom Panel: (4” x 2¾”) Pacific Point cardstock.
  • The sentiment, You’re the Best, was stamped with Versamark ink and heat-set with White Embossing Powder.
  • The panel was then also dry-embossed with the Stars and Crosses from the same embossing folder.
• Focal Image: Hat, Ball, and Bats.
  • The Baseball is an element from the Kit.
  • The Baseball Hat and Baseball Bats were stamped onto a scrap of Basic White cardstock with Pacific Point and Soft Suede ink, respectively.
  • The Hat and the Bats were fussy-cut with Paper Snips.

All cross strips were adhered to the card base to resemble the sketch and the decorations, Hat, Ball and Bats were added with the Hat popped up with Dimensionals.

What a fun, bright, Red, White and Blue, All American Sports card for a little fellow.  Along with his Lego Blocks, he will likely have his Ball and Bat in there too!  He is an All Star!
