Hand-Penned Petals – Feel Better

Welcome back!  Had a busy day yesterday, so I was able so create the card I conceived in my head…this morning.  Hope you like it.

Several challenges:  Just Add Ink (#637) for the Sketch, Alphabet (Letter V) for the Materials, Facebook Colour INKspiration (#136) for the Colors, Can You Handle The Pressure (#24) for the Tools and Twist along with Use Your Stuff (#476) for the Mixed Media idea.

Here is the result:

HAND-PENNED PETALS – PAINTED POSIES EF – DAINTY DELIGHT, MEADOW, HARVEST, BEAUTIFUL SHAPES DIES – JAI637 – CI136 – UYS476 – CYHTP24 – ALPHABET Letter V

Steps:

  • Case Base: (8½” x 5½” scored at 4¼”) Basic White cardstock.
  • Background: (4¼” x 2¾”) Vellum
    • Two pieces were dry-embossed using the Painted Posies 3D Embossing Folder and added to the top and bottom, in mirror fashion, to the card base.
  • Side Triangles: (4¼” x 5½”) Basic White cardstock dry-embossed with the retired Subtle 3D Embossing Folder.
    • The panel was diagonally cut to obtain the two side border triangles which were then adhered over the Vellum and to the card base.
  • Center Shape: Basic White cardstock scrap.
    • The sentiment, Feel Better Friend, from the Hand-Penned Petals stamp set was stamped with Garden Green ink and then die-cut with the smaller Hexagon die from the Beautiful Shapes Dies set and then added to the card front.
  • Decoration – Flowers: Shimmery White cardstock.
    • The Grasses from the Harvest Dies set, the Flowers from the Meadows Dies set and the Posies from the Dainty Delight Dies set were all die-cut.
    • All of the Floral decorations were water-colored with the Fine-Tipped Water Painter BrushGrasses: Sahara Sand, Mint Macaron and Garden Green inks; Flowers and Posies: Blushing Bride, Mint Macaron and Garden Green inks.
    • The Flowers were then arranged and added to the card front.

Such a pretty soft colored card.  White on White mixing both texturized Vellum and cardstock using a light water-coloring technique for the flowers that are added to the side borders.

  1. You’ve created such a thoughtful “Get well soon” card, I like the pretty blooms on your project – the colourful ones on top of your card, as well as their embossed shadow in the background. I think the design of your card looks so lovely with the combination of vellum and paper, and I’m sure your card will brighten somebody’s day. Thanks for joining the Alphabet challenge.

    Hugs, Veronika
