Welcome back! A few more challenges with quickly approaching deadlines…
The Challenges: Use Your Stuff (#475) – Inspired by a Book, Color Throwdown (#727) and Sketch Saturday (#717),
I really enjoyed reading The Secret Life of Sunflowers by Marta Molnar. It is a work of historical fiction based on the true life of Johanna Bonger who was the sister-in-law of Vincent Van Gogh.
Here is the result:

Steps:
- Case Base: (8½” x 5½” scored at 4¼”) Soft Sea Foam cardstock.
- Background Panel: (4” x 5¼”) Soft Sea Foam cardstock dry-embossed with the Painted Texture 3D Embossing Folder.
- Tilted Rectangle Panel: (2” x 4½”) Pink-Toned Painted Canvas patterned piece of paper from the Fancy Flora Designer Series Paper pack.
- Focal Image – Jar of Sunflowers: Basic White cardstock scraps.
- The Sunflower Floral Arrangement image was stamped with Granny Apple Green ink and colored with Stampin’ Blends Markers. Colors: Light and Dark Mango Melody, Pink Pirouette Dark, Flirty Flamingo Light, Granny Apple Green Light and Bronze.
- The Mason Jar image, a reversible stamp, was stamped with retired Regal Rose ink and then cleaned and flipped over to add the fill-in color with retired Pink Pirouette ink.
- The Flower Stalks image was stamped with Granny Apple Green ink and colored with the Granny Apple Green Light Stampin’ Blend Marker.
- Both the Floral Arrangement and the Mason Jar were fussy cut with Paper Snips.
- Side Circles – Sunflowers: Basic White cardstock scraps
- Four Sunflowers were also stamped, colored and fussy cut as above to represent the circles.
- Left Side Decoration: Champagne Rhinestone Basic Jewels were added to the edge of the Tilted Rectangle Panel.
I chose to create a Blank Card without sentiment as the decorated card front was so pretty. This is a card that can be used for so many different occasions. Just add your sentiment inside.
Thanks for spending some of your time with me today. Cheers, Jolanda!
