My upcoming WEEKEND CHALLENGE is SIMPLICITY. It is always difficult to remember that sometimes “Less is More”. I am trying to embrace this concept. We often have lots of supplies at our disposal and it is so tempting to just add a little more…
To wit, I combined a number of challenges that are out in the blog world to create my card.
Sketch and Theme: Fusion Challenge (Kitty Butterfly); Subject: As You See It Challenge (#256); Subject: Double Trouble Challenge (#90); Style and Stamp: CAS on Friday (#211); and Color: Color Throw Down Challenge (#655).
Here is the result:

Steps:
- Focal Image: (1⅞”) Basic White cardstock scrap. The Kitty and Butterfly image from the retired Pretty Kitty stamp set was stamped with Basic Gray ink, colored with Stampin’ Blends and die-cut with one of the Circle dies from the retired Stitched Shapes Die set. The Stampin’ Blend colors used were Smoky Slate, Pink Pirouette (retired), Mint Macaron, Fresh Freesia and Soft Sea Foam.
- Background Panel: (5¼” x 4”) Basic White cardstock. The bottom (1⅜”) was dry-embossed with the retired Scripty 3D Embossing Folder and the left side (1½”) was dry-embossed with the Tasteful Textile 3D Embossing Folder. The embossed edges take the place of the two panels as suggested by the sketch, keeping to a minimalist clean and simple esthetic.
A Smoky Slate card base (8½” x 5½” scored at 4¼”) was chosen to match the colored Kitty. The card was left blank (no sentiment) so that the card could be used for any occasion.
We currently do not have any pets, because our schedules make it difficult. If I did own a pet, my preferred choice would be a cat. I like their independent spirit. Fondly remembering “Pumpkin”, our sweet family cat, as I was growing up.
Thanks for spending some of your time with me today. Cheers, Jolanda!

That’s a cute kitten but the star is your mix of partial embosses. Thanks for playing along with us at As You See it Challenge.
