A Lovely Day for a Walk in the Park – Moon Lake

A number of challenges have an outdoor masculine theme and I wanted to see what I could create…

Sketch and Theme: Try Stampin’ On Tuesday Challenge (#516); Color and Materials: Retro Rubber Challenges (#163) and Theme: CASology Cue Card (#393).

Here is the result:

MOON LAKE – TSOT516 – RRCB163 – CASology CUE CARD 393

Steps:

  • Card Base: (8½” x 5½” scored at 4¼”) Very Vanilla cardstock
  • Background Panel: (4” x 5¼”) Very Vanilla cardstock dry-embossed with the retired Subtle 3D Embossing Folder for a little texture.
  • Focal Image: (2½” x 2⅛”) Very Vanilla cardstock.  The Mallard Duck in Pond image from the retired Moon Lake stamp set was stamped with Basic Gray ink.  The Cattails were colored with the Shaded Spruce Stampin’ Write Marker and lightly softened with a Blender Pen.  The rest of the image was colored with a variety of Stampin’ Blends: Daffodil Delight, Bermuda Bay, Crumb Cake, Soft Sea Foam and Soft Succulent.
  • Accent Mat (1): (2¾” x 2⅜”) Shaded Spruce cardstock.
  • Sentiment Oval: (2⅞” x 1⅞”) Very Vanilla cardstock.  The sentiment, Nature evokes…, from same stamp set, Moon Lake was stamped with Shaded Spruce ink and highlighted with the Soft Sea Foam Stampin’ Blend.  The sentiment oval was created using one of the retired Stitched Shapes Dies.
  • Accent Mat (2): (3¼” x 4”) Crumb Cake cardstock.
  • The image, the mat (1) and the oval were adhered to the Crumb Cake mat (2).
  • Cross Strip: (4” x ½”) A piece of retired Braided Burlap Trim was wrapped around the entire Focal panel and secured with tape.  Two retired Gold Metallic Brads were added to the edges of the Trim.

To complete the card as per the Sketch, the focal panel was popped up over the texturized background panel which was adhered to the card base.

  1. Oo, love this one, too, Jolanda! What a great use of this braided trim, and I love the “wash” over the sentiment! Brilliant! Thanks so much for playing at TSOT!

  3. Very masculine, Jolanda. My brother used to go duck hunting and it would be a great card for him. I like the subtle shading around the edges of the images. Thanks for playing with us at Retro Rubber Challenge.
