Never Blue When I Think of You.

Welcome back! Our current challenge at CARDZ 4 GUYZ (#276) is SHADES OF BLUE.

So many possibilities…Blue is such a staple color in so many areas of design. I decided to play with my Blending Brushes and see what I could create with various shades of blue.

I hope that you like this card and I welcome you to join us at the challenge and create your own “Blue” card!

Here is what I came up with:

TRANQUIL THOUGHTS – WONDERLAND – ECLECTIC EXPRESSIONS – C4G276

Steps:

  • Focal Scene: (4¼” x 5½”) Basic White cardstock.  Moon: (1”) From the retired Eclectic Expressions stamp set stamped with Smoky Slate ink.  Mask: (1”) Post-It-Note created with the retired (1”) Circle Punch.  Sky: Using a Blending Brush, the first color applied over and around the Moon Mask was Pool Party ink followed by Balmy Blue ink.  The next color applied was Misty Moonlight ink and finally Night of Navy ink.  Pine Trees: The Mask was removed and the Pine Trees from the retired Wonderland stamp set were stamped with Night of Navy ink. I chose these trees (from the many that I have) because I liked the height and skinniness of the trees.  The Scene was then trimmed to (2⅝” x 4”) by die-cutting the image with that sized die from the Stitched Rectangle Dies set.  Stars: Added with a White Gel Pen.
  • Accent Mat: (3″ x 4⅜”) Night of Navy cardstock die-cut with the next size up Stitched Rectangle Die.
  • Sentiment label: (2½” x ¾”) Basic White cardstock scrap.  The sentiment, I Thought of You Today, from the retired Tranquil Thoughts stamp set seemed very appropriate.  The sentiment was stamped with Misty Moonlight ink and die-cut with the retired label shape from the Merry Christmas Dies set because it fit so nicely.  To finish off the label, Misty Moonlight ink was added to the edge with a Sponge Dauber.

Of all the blues I used, the most complimentary color for the card base (8½” x 5½” scored at 4¼”) was Balmy Blue.

I hope I inspired you to join the challenge…Get out your inks and or your papers and play!  I am looking forward to seeing what you will create with your “Shades of Blue”.

Thanks for spending some of your time with me today.   Cheers,  Jolanda!
