Quiet Meadow – Thinking of You

Not quite done with these beautiful Floral images in the Meadow Dies set.  They just beg for a watercolor treatment.

Over at TGIF, the current challenge (#323) includes the perfect complement of colors for Meadow Flowers.  I felt that the Atlantic Hearts Sketch Challenge (#428) would work very nicely to showcase these flowers.

Here is the result:

QUIET MEADOW – MEADOW DIES – TGIFC323 – AHSC428

I added a little yellow to the mix for some interest and contrast.

Steps:

  • Flowers: Watercolor Paper Cold Press 140lb.  Three of the Florals were die-cut with Meadow Dies set.  With a wet-on-wet watercolor application, the Flowers were painted with Fresh Freesia, So Saffron, Polished Pink and Granny Apple Green inks.  Method:  Pick up ink from a block that was pressed in to the ink pad with both the Fine-Tipped and Medium-Tipped Water Painters.
  • Panels: (1¼” x 4”) Watercolor Paper Cold Press 140lb.
  • Sentiment Label: (2¾” x ¾”) Evening Evergreen cardstock.  The sentiment, Thinking of You, from the Quiet Meadow stamp set was stamped with Versamark ink and heat-set with White Embossing Powder.  The label shape is one of the dies in the Meadow Dies set.
  • Cross Strip / Ribbon: (4” x 3/16”) Daffodil Delight cardstock cut to fit through the Label loop and dry-embossed with the Subtle 3D Embossing Folder to look like a piece of ribbon.

To complete this card, all the elements were adhered to an Evening Evergreen card base (11” x 4¼” scored at 5½”).

This turned out so pretty!  I love water coloring.
