Time again to work on the weekly Case-ing Tuesday Challenge #300. This week the Sample and Sketch is from page 72 of the Mini Spring Catalog. I decided to mix it up with the Paper Players #537 Theme Challenge and the Tic Tac Toe #109 Line Challenge.

And this is the result:

The Tic Tac Toe line I chose was the right-hand side. CAS (Clean and Simple), Stitching and Cute Critter(s). The Paper Players theme is Birthdays and also a CAS card.
CAS is essentially: Minimal Layers, Little or no Embellishment and lots of White Space.
For my Neutral, I opted for the very pale green panel (5⅜” x 2¾”) of Soft Seafoam cardstock and this is my “white” space. I added a bit of texture with the Subtle 3D Embossing Folder. A little color is introduced by using the Forever Greenery Designer Series Paper (5⅜” x 1”) above and below the Soft Seafoam panel.
For the “Stitching” element, I used a ruler and the Garden Green Stampin’ Write Marker to create the Faux Stitching along the top and bottom of the Soft Seafoam panel before it was dry-embossed.
For the Critter(s), I stamped the Bird, Frog, Fish and Greenery images from the Oh, Snap stamp set in Memento Tuxedo Black ink on to a scrap of Basic White cardstock, colored them with a variety of Stampin’ Blends colors and then fussy cut them. To soften the bright white edges, I colored the edges with the Dark Seafoam Stampin’ Blend.
The sentiment, It’s Your Birthday, is also from the Oh, Snap stamp set. I stamped the sentiment in Versamark ink and then in to Garden Green ink before adding it to the scrap of Soft Seafoam cardstock (1 ⅞” x ⅝”). The sentiment was then heat-set with Clear Embossing Powder. This technique is called Clear Color Embossing. A scrap of Garden Green cardstock was added as a mat (2” x ¾”) behind the sentiment label
All the elements were then arranged as per the sketch on a Garden Green card base.
A happy little birthday card with some very cute critters and bit of stitching for a clean look that was actually very simple to create. That is the beauty of a straightforward sketch.
Thanks for spending some of your time with me today. Cheers, Jolanda!
