Jolly Gingerbread

Keep Stamping Saturday Challenge

Did you know that Saturday, December 12th is Gingerbread House Day? It is also Poinsettia Day, but I chose to do Gingerbread. I really like the little house in the current Paper Pumpkin kit.

Here is what I created:

JOLLY GINGERBREAD – PAPER PUMPKIN – NOVEMBER 2020

Similar to the other Gingerbread House I created last week, I used the Painted Bleach Technique.  The Gingerbread House was stamped on to Cinnamon Cider cardstock with Versamark and heat embossed with White Embossing Powder.  I then painted out the windows, doors and roof tiles with the bleach and a fine tipped brush.

Once the image was dry, I re-added color using the Stampin’ Write Markers: Balmy Blue and Daffodil Delight.  The warm brown tone is achieved by coloring the “house” with Cinnamon Cider.

A Balmy Blue panel (4 1/8″ x 5 3/8″) was embossed with both the Evergreen Forest and Snow Falling embossing folders.  The raised embossed images were tapped lightly with Versamark and then White Embossing Powder was applied before heat setting.  This gave the background a very frosty winter feel.

For the oval element of the sketch, I chose to use one of the Tasteful Label Dies.  I also cut a curve with one of the dies from the Pine Woods Dies.  Both the label and the curve were sponged in Balmy Blue.

The Gingerbread House was tucked along the snow line and three Shaded Spruce die-cut trees from the Pine Wood Dies were added to complete the scene.  I added Wink of Stella to the tree branches for some shimmer.  It is had to see in the photo but looks very nice in real life.

The sentiment was also embossed in White on a Cinnamon Cider cardstock flag that was over colored with Cinnamon Cider to match the house.

Inspiration for the sketch layout came from the Global Design Project Challenge GDP270 and the my card fits within the current GDP271 Winter Theme Challenge.

A fun little wintery card.

Cheers, Jolanda
