Friday Simple Stamping

 October 9th, 2020 – Hallowe’en

This week the chosen theme for Simple Stamping is Hallowe’en. Such fun to see the children in their costumes as they pop around for treats.

I wanted to feature the multi-occasion stamp set, Festive Post and the matching Rectangular Postage Stamp Punch.  This great little stamp set covers you for Hallowe’en, Christmas and Valentine’s Day.  So versatile.

All the cards use a combination of Mango Melody, Granny Apple Green, Gorgeous Grape and Basic Black.

Easy – Hallowe’en Cheers

Using some of the line-art stamps from Pattern Play, I created both my background mat and my ribbon.  The five stripe lines were stamped multiple times in a crosshatch pattern on Granny Apple Green card stock and the two dotted lines were stamped across a strip of Gorgeous Grape card stock.

The Mango Melody piece of card stock measures 1¾” x 4¼”.  The broom and date images are from Festive Post and the “Cheers to You” is from Itty Bitty Birthdays and finishes the sentiment off nicely.

Easy Peasy! Just a little work creating the crosshatch.

Stepping this card up just a little.  Using the Stitched So Sweetly Dies, I cut the stitched pattern along the top and bottom edges and used my Smoky Slate Stampin’ Write Marker to add “stitch lines” to the side edges.

How to use the die for one edge cutting. Rolling only until you go over the first edge.

Step Up (1) – Giving the Broom a Rest

For this card, I created a scene with the tree from Life is Beautiful.  A single broom is leaning against the tree waiting for the return of its owner.  The bats are out in a swirl. The sentiment date is clear color embossed in Gorgeous Grape.  A small detail but this technique adds shine.

Step Up (2) – Witching You a Happy

This is also a relatively simple card, yet I created more interest by adding White Embossing Powder to the Dainty Diamonds 3D dry embossed Basic Black mat.  Looks a little like a twinkling sky.  Which broom will our Witch select?  Regardless, she is hoping you have a fun and spooky evening!

I am too! HAPPY HALLOWE’EN…cheers, Jolanda
