Paper Pumpkin Play Date – Blissful Blooms

October 1, 2020

Out of the cupboard, out of the box came the AUGUST 2018 – BLISSFUL BLOOMS kit.  This kit featured lovely colored preprinted card bases, labels, a stamp set full of sentiments and lovely accent floral builder stamps.

Today, I want to welcome Fall.

You Make Me So Happy

The purple blossom on one of the card fronts reminds me of Wintering Pansies.

Keeping things relatively simple, I die-cut the blossom from the preprinted bouquet with one of the Stitched Shape Circles.  I added a couple of the kit’s vellum die-cut leaves.  To make the flower pop, I paired it with Old Olive and Daffodil Delight.  The sentiment is white embossed on to the background to keep the emphasis on the flower as a focal point.

Pretty card, don’t you think?

Thanks

I wanted to create a Fall Floral.

Using only the floral builder stamps in the kit and a little masking I created the spray of blossoms.  I started by using the negative of the vellum leaves used in the first project and sponged the leaves in Pear Pizzazz.  I then started layering colored blossoms amongst the leaves.  To reduce overlap, I created a small floral mask to cover various flowers as I went along.  I used a variety of yellows and soft browns:  So Saffron, Bumble Bee, Mango Melody and Terracotta Tile.  The floral centers are stamped off Cinnamon Cider and the stamens are Early Espresso. To give the blossom more presence, I outlined and spotted the petals with the Cinnamon Cider Stampin’ Write Marker. Again, I wanted the focus to be the floral spray and I chose the small “Thanks” sentiment from Here’s A Card because I preferred the font to the “Thank You!” that came with the kit.

Two really different looks.  One staying true to the ideas in the original kit and the other a variation using the stamps to create something new and seasonally appropriate.

I think they turned out really well.  I chose to keep them unadorned (i.e. no bling) so that they would be easy to mail.
