This week my challenge was to make a card using the technique called EMBOSSED SHADOW STAMPING.
I ran into a little time crunch and needed a Birthday card for a guy…so only one card to show you.
IT’S YOUR DAY!
To compliment the sentiment from Happiest of Birthdays, I chose the lighthouse and seagulls from Sailing Home and added the water element from High Tide.
For this card I used the Heat Embossed Method on a piece of In Good Taste Designer Series Paper and backed it with a piece of Crumb Cake cardstock embossed with the Old World Paper 3D embossing folder (I like how this pattern mimics waves of water) to continue with the masculine theme.
There are two methods of Shadow Stamping:
- TWO COLOR – Two tones, light and dark, of the same color. For example, Pear Pizzazz and Mossy Meadow. Stamp your image in the light color first, re-ink in the darker color shifting the image slightly left or right of the original creating the “shadow”.
- HEAT EMBOSSED – Stamp your image once in a dark color, clean your stamp and then ink with Versamark (a colorless pigment style ink) and stamp it again slightly to the left or right of your original image. Cover the Versamark with White Embossing Powder and heat set. The lighter colored white embossed image is shadowed by the darker inked image.
Have you ever tried either method? I like the sepia effect of the heat embossed style of shadow stamping. I plan to do this again when I have a little more time.
