Choose a card sample from the Catalog and Case!
September 15th – Tuesday Case-ing #269 (Mini Catalog page 51)
This card features “Rooted in Nature” and “By the Dock”.

The original sample in the catalog is a tone-on-tone color combo using one of my favorite stamp sets “Life is Beautiful”. I wanted to retain the tone-on-tone feel by using white on white with a sponged back drop.
I started this card with a masked sponge technique using So Saffron, Mango Melody, Pumpkin Pie and Cinnamon Cider. The plan was to leave the white space on either side and stamp my image over top. However, my mask (tape) abraded my cardstock when I removed it. Not a good look!
Plan B. I trimmed the white edges, leaving just the sponged panel and planned to adhere it to another piece of white card stock. I did not like it…
For the subtle tone-on-tone look of the original sample, I opted to use a So Saffron panel. To ensure that the stamping of the Oak Tree lined up, I used the Stamparatus positioning tool and stamped the image on each panel. A slight texture was added to the So Saffron panel with the Subtle 3D embossing folder.
The Cinnamon Cider card base is soft enough in tone to create a nice contrast to the So Saffron and looked nice with the ombre sponging. I added the sentiment, white embossed on Cinnamon Cider and added a tiny bit of bling with the Metallic Copper Ribbon. No extra bling as this card would be suitable to give to a father, grandfather or mentor.
