Sunday Sketch – SS019

“Inspiring Iris” – “No Rhyme * No Reason”

A four-square pattern?  Perhaps, I could change it a little bit and use the new “Rectangular Postage Stamp Punch”?

You Are My Somebody

I chose the floral images from the “Inspiring Iris” stamp set because the images would fit within the punch.

I then went hunting for patterned paper for the cross strip.  I settled on the Old Olive filigree pattern from the “Ornate Garden” Specialty Designer Series and then an Old Olive card base was the obvious choice.

The filigree pattern in the designer series paper suggested “GOLD”.  Therefore, I chose “Gold Foil” paper for the back panel that I added to the sketch.

Once I settled on a gold theme, the floral images were stamped and embossed with “Gold Embossing Powder” on to Very Vanilla and then I used Highland Heather and Old Olive with the coordinating flower and foliage fill-in stamps.  To soften the brightness of the Very Vanilla backgrounds, I sponged a little Old Olive through the leaves and sentiment.

For the ¼” strip, I colored the “Vanilla Gold Metallic Edged Ribbon” Old Olive with the light “Old Olive Stampin’ Blend”.

Putting it all together, I really like how this card turned out.  Here is the original Sketch…
