Today’s I played with the OCTOBER 2018 – FRIENDS OF A FEATHER kit. A subtle kit with a bunch of colored feathers and little leaf die cuts.
I did not want to be subtle at all! Fresh Fig and Grapefruit Grove were used as accents in the original concept cards. Me? I used them as the dominant colors for my cards.
Both, Fresh Fig and Grapefruit Grove, In-Colors from previous years are now retired but I still have cardstock and a few of the coordinating products on hand.
“Hope”
The sentiment comes from the kit. The panel is the very pretty dark floral pattern (Fresh Fig) inside design of the purple envelope and mounted on to a card base in the complimentary color of Grapefruit Grove. The coordinating purple label is cut from the envelope front and dressed up with a few of the leaf die cuts that came with the kit and some Champagne Rhinestones. The circular label element comes from the front of one of the Grapefruit Grove envelopes. I used some 1/8” grosgrain ribbon that I still had on hand for the loops in behind the label.
“Happy Birthday”
The sentiment comes from “By the Dock” and is stamped on to a die cut label from the kit. The negative of the purple label is used for the panel and another cut piece from the Grapefruit Grove envelope front was inset. Both pieces were dry embossed with the Subtle 3D folder for texture. The darker floral strips top and bottom come from the purple envelope flap. These pieces are all mounted on to a Fresh Fig cardstock base. I cut two laurels with the “Forever Flourishing” Dies, and snipped them apart. A bit of ribbon and more rhinestones were added for contrast and bling.
