Friday Simple Stamping

Simple Stamping

Simple Stamping is essentially using STAMP, INK, and PAPER to create a card.  To create pretty cards, you do not need much more than that!

Stampin’ Up! ® has all that and more and is my go-to source.

There are essentially three types of stampers and you can be all three at different times depending on your skill level, your time, and what products you have on hand.  You may be a Beginner or have a preference for Clean and Simple cards. You may have more tools and access to more materials and have become a Casual stamper.  Or You, like me, have it all and love card making which often means we are Avid stampers.

By way of introduction, I challenge myself and you with a weekly theme.  The goal is to create a simple card based on the theme.  This week it is WINGED THINGS – essentially anything that can fly.

I then step up my card design for a Casual stamper and step it up again for an Avid stamper.  This gives you an idea how just adding a little more can change the look of a card.

I chose to use “Butterfly Gala” stamp set and the coordinating “Butterfly Duet” punch.  I chose two principal colors:  Bumble Bee and Magenta Madness and added Smoky Slate as an accent color.

“Thank You”
Easy
A quick and simple stamped card with a little coloring.  I chose to use Stampin’ Blends for more precise coloring as I wanted to stay within the lines of the butterfly wings.  For a little interest, I decided to emboss the panel.  This card would have been just as nice with a white on white treatment.

“On My Mind”
Casual
To step up this white on white card, I cut two square stitched dies to keep it clean and sponged the stamped butterfly in Bumble Bee and over sponged with the Magenta Madness to accent the wings.  The butterfly is punched out and closely fussy cut because I wanted clean edges around the wings.  Glue is added to the butterfly body only so that the wings could be folded up.

“Hello Beautiful.”
Avid
This card is further stepped up. I added stamped off little butterflies in the coordinating colors along with little splatters in Smoky Slate on the white panel.  The sentiment is cut with the Stitched Shapes circle die and popped up over Golden Thread.  The butterflies were made the same way as the previous card and also popped up. More color was added by using a Magenta Madness mat and a Bumble Bee card base.

Post the card(s) you make using the theme “Winged Things” on my Facebook Post:
