The Open Sea – Ahoy!

Design Team Time for Hand Stamp Sentiments (#487), a color board and Atlantic Hearts (#679), a sketch which I turned into an A2 portrait format from a square layout.

My design choices were influenced by: The Male Room (#209) for Transport; Cupcake Inspirations (#636) with a Travel theme and sharing with Krafty Chicks (#817) for their masculine week.

Here is the result:

Steps:

• Card Base: (8½” x 5½” scored at 4¼”) Pecan Pie cardstock.    
• Background Panel: (4” x 5¼”) Basic Beige cardstock.
  • The Manifest image from the retired The Open Sea stamp set was stamped with Old Olive ink.
  • The greeting, Ahoy!, from the retired Sunrise Sailing stamp set was also stamped with Old Olive ink.
• Square Accent Mat: (3” x 3”) Misty Moonlight cardstock die-cut with the (2¾” x 2¾”) Stitched Square die from the Stylish Shapes Dies set.
• Focal Panel: (2½” x 2½”) Basic Beige cardstock.
  • The Sailing Ship image, also from the Open Sea stamp set was inked with Pecan Pie ink and then the “water” area was wiped away with a paper towel and Misty Moonlight ink was added using the now retired Stampin’ Write Marker and then stamped and die-cut with the (2⅜” x 2⅜”) Stitched Square die.
• Swag: Basic Beige cardstock scraps.
  • The Compass image, again from the Open Sea stamp set was stamped three times with Misty Moonlight ink and die-cut with the (1¼”) Stitched Circle die, also from the Stitched Shapes Dies set.
• Flag: Old Olive cardstock scrap die-cut with the edge of the (1”) wide Stitched Banner die.

All elements were adhered to the card base to resemble the sketch, omitting the string.  The center Compass was popped up with a Dimensional and a Metallic Dot (from my stash) was added to the center of each Compass.

A nice masculine Hello card…
