Let’s Celebrate – Stripes & Dots

Welcome back!  Happy Saturday.  Here’s to hoping you have a chance to be creative.

Playing with the Freshly Made (#724) Sketch which I flipped to the horizontal position.

My design was influenced by: Facebook’s Colour INKspiration (#203) Palette which felt like “guy” colors and Litte Red Wagon (#846) Celebrating You theme for a graphically designed masculine birthday card for my brother.

Here is the result:

Steps:

• Card Base: (8½” x 5½” scored at 4¼”) Basic White cardstock.
• Background Panel: (5⅜” x 4⅛”) Smoky Slate cardstock dry-embossed with the retired Cross Hatch patterned Basics 3D Embossing Folder.
• Accent Mat: (4½” x 3¼”) Basic Black cardstock.
• Focal Panel: (4⅛” x 3⅛”) Basic White cardstock.
  • All four images from the Stripes & Dots stamp set were used in a collage format.
    • Solid Stripes – Azure Afternoon ink; Dots – Balmy Blue ink; Short Dashes – Smoky Slate ink; and Diagonal Stripes – Smoky Slate ink.
  • To fill in the edges, the Cross Hatch patterned image from the Swirled Designs stamp set, an On-Line Exclusive product, was stamped with Afternoon Azure ink.
  • Using a Journaling Pen, doodles were added to the Smoky Slate Diagonal Stripes for the shapes suggested by the sketch.
• Sentiment Accent Mat: (5⅜” x ½”) Basic Black cardstock.
• Sentiment Strip: (5¼” x ⅜”) Basic White cardstock.
  • The sentiments, Let’s Celebrate and the truncated Thank You, were stamped with Memento Tuxedo Black ink.

All elements were adhered to the card base to resemble the flipped sketch.
