Sentimental Framing – Winter Memories

Welcome back!  Happy Wednesday…I am delighted to be a guest designer for Farm Quest (#80) this month.  The theme is Winter Sports.  If you know me, I am a fireside book reader…hanging out in the snow is not my idea of fun.  But I do have memories of making Snowmen with my sister.  Is that sporty enough for you?

Additional challenges that informed my design choice were: Double D (#260121) with a Friendship theme; Inspiration Station (#81) for the color of the Squirrel and the Snow; and sharing with Love To Craft (#90) Anything Goes.

Here is the result:

SENTIMENTAL FRAMING – FQCB80 – DD260121 – ISC81 – LTCCB90

Steps:

  • Card Base: (8½” x 5½” scored at 4¼”) Cajun Craze cardstock.
  • Side Strip: (1¾” x 5¼”) Pecan Pie Two-Tone (dark side) cardstock dry embossed with the retired Tasteful Textile 3D Embossing Folder.
    • Using a Sanding Block, the strip was buffed to bring out the white core texture of a sweater.
  • Accent Mat: (3¼” x 4¼”) Early Espresso cardstock.
  • Focal Panel: Recycled Holiday card trimmed to (3” x 4”) and dry-embossed with the retired Subtle 3D Embossing Folder give the image a canvas texture.
  • Sentiment Banner: Vellum Specialty Paper scrap.
    • The truncated sentiment, Our friendship is full of memories, from the recently retired Sentimental Framing stamp set was stamped with Versamark ink and heat-set with retired Pewter Embossing Powder and then die-cut with the (2⅝” x ½”) Stitched Banner die from the Stylish Shapes Dies set.

All elements were adhered to the card base.  The matted Focal Panel was popped up with Dimensionals and two silver colored Adhesive-Backed Metallic Gems were added to the Sentiment Banner.

I love when saved cards or other ephemera can be repurposed to create something new.  I hope you like this winter friendship card.
