Christmas Cocoa – Merry Cafe

Welcome back!  It is cold and drizzly and there are so many Christmas Parades in several of the local towns today…those going will need a lot of Hot Chocolate to keep warm as they wait for Santa to arrive.

Playing with Double Trouble (#205) and the 3-2-1 Recipe (3 Colors, 2 Layers and 1 Image) with a Ribbon Twist and partnering with Try S Sketch On Tuesday (#684) for the Sketch.

Design influences: Caffeinated Christmas Cards (#48) and the top right image from all the Inspiration Photos from Colourful Options (#2512).

Choosing the TGIF (#554) Colors and adding Hearts for Heart’s Quest (#80).

Here is the result:

MERRY CAFE – DT205 – TSOT684 – CCCC48 – COC2512 – TGIFC554 – HQCB80

Steps:

  • Card Base: (8½” x 5½” scored at 4¼”) Coastal Cabana cardstock.
  • Background Panel: (4” x 5¼”) Real Red, Granny Apple Green and Shaded Spruce Plaid patterned piece of paper from the retired Take a Bow Designer Series Paper pack.
  • Overlay: (3¾” x 5”) Vellum Specialty Paper, an On-Line Exclusive product.
  • Rectangular Shapes – Cocoa Cups: (3¾” x 4¼”) Pecan Pie; (4¼” x ¾”) Basic White cardstocks; (2½” x 2”) Real Red Dotted patterned piece of paper, also from the Take a Bow Designer Series Paper pack die-cut with the Cup, Lid and Sleeve dies from the retired Coffee Cups Framelits Dies set.
  • Circular Shape – Sentiment Swirl: (3” x 2¼”) Granny Apple Green and Basic White cardstocks die-cut with the larger Oval die from the Swirled Designs Dies set, another On-Line Exclusive product.
    • The words, Christmas and Cheer along with the small Holly and Berry images, from the retired Merry Café stamp set were stamped with Granny Apple Green and Real Red inks.  The sentiment was double stamped to get a shadow effect.

All elements were adhered to the card base to resemble the sketch.  Using the retired Owl Builder Punch, a small red and green Heart was punched from cardstock scraps and added to the Cup Lids and a (4⅛”) length of retired Summer Splash (closely matches Coastal Cabana) Bordered Ribbon was added behind the Sentiment Swirl.

Extra cheer for those that need a warming cup of Cocoa!

  1. Great take on our sketch. Love the use of the coffee cups for the vertical elements and your use of small hearts on the lids. Thanks for joining us at Try A Sketch On Tuesday.

  2. Nice use of the vellum to tone down but still keep the bright traditional colors of Christmas, along with the pretty ribbon, such a warm Christmas cheer. Thanks for sharing your fun card with us at Double Trouble and TSOT.
