Approaching Perfection – Happy Birthday

Design Team Time for the Atlantic Hearts Sketch Challenge (#658).  All wrapped up with a tag.  Lots of fun possibilities with this sketch.  I changed the orientation to horizontal to better accommodate my sentiment.

Design influences: Krafty Chicks (#796) Masculine and Alphabet (Letter Q) for Quote.

Selecting the Facebook SU! Colours (December) suggestion and adding in Lasting Linen for today’s Stampin’ Through The Catalog stamp set choice.

Here is the result:

APPROACHING PERFETION – SIMPLY SAID – LASTING LINEN – AHSC658 – KCC796 – ACB Letter Q – SUCC December 2025 – STTC

Steps:

  • Card Base: (8½” x 5½” scored at 4¼”) Early Espresso cardstock.
  • Background Panel: (5¼” x 4”) Calypso Coral Ombre patterned piece of paper from the retired Softly Stippled Designer Series Paper pack.
    • The Panel was pressed into the Lasting Linen Background stamp that had been inked with Early Expresso ink.
    • The Candle image from the retired Approaching Perfection stamp set was also stamped with Early Espresso ink, as was the sentiment, Happy Birthday, from the Simply Said stamp set.
  • Diagonal Wrap: (3” x 3”) Pecan Pie Striped patterned piece from the retired 2024/2025 Neutrals Collection Designer Series Paper pack, cut in half.
  • Accent Mat: (2⅝” x 1¾”) Early Espresso cardstock.
  • Sentiment Block: (2½” x 1⅝”) Daffodil Delight Diagonal Grid patterned piece of paper from the retired Les Shoppes Designer Series Paper pack.
    • The Quote: If things really do get better with age, then you’re approaching perfection, also from the Approaching Perfection stamp set was stamped with Early Espresso ink.

All elements were adhered to the card base to resemble the sketch, and the Sentiment was popped up with Dimensionals.

A fun little birthday card for a fellow.

  1. What a really cute sentiment quote! I love your design as well with the patterns and colors! Such a great take with that sketch! This would make for a lovely masculine style card too! Thanks so much for sharing your creation with us at the Alphabet Challenge!
