Sweet Apples – Rustic Centerpiece

Welcome back!  Happy Wednesday.  Are you ready for your Thanksgiving celebrations?

I have a quick (a very quick) clean and simple card for you today.  Playing with the As You See It (#361) Speed Challenge with an Apple theme.  Can you create a card in less than 10 minutes?  How long do you think it took me?

I chose to play with the CAS Colours & Sketches (#574) Layout and picked my Sentiment based on the Addicted to CAS (#296) Word – Sweet.

Here is the result – keeping in mind I selected my design, gathered my materials and tools and set myself up for success:

Steps:

• Card Base: (8½” x 5½” scored at 4¼”) Basic White cardstock folded in half and burnished with a Bone Folder.
• Working Panel: (3” x 5½”) Basic White cardstock.
  • A (3” x 1½”) scrap of Lemon Lime Twist Gingham patterned paper from the retired Glorious Gingham Designer Series Paper pack was cut in a “wave” pattern with Paper Snips and then adhered to the edge of the Panel.
  • Using the (2⅜” x 3”) Rounded Corner Rectangle die from the Nested Essentials Dies set, the mini background was created to mimic the sketch.
• The stamping was done on the remaining part of the Panel, and the selected stamps were mounted to Clear Stamping Blocks.
  • From the Rustic Centerpiece stamp set, an On-Line Exclusive product, the image with the Apples was selected.  Memento Tuxedo Black ink was added to the Apple area and then stamped.
  • From the retired Seasonal Sentiments stamp set, the word Sweet, from the Halloween sentiment, was colored with the Basic Black Stampin’ Write Marker and then stamped.
  • Both images were colored with Stampin’ Blends Markers.  Colors chosen: Apples – a blend of Light Lemon Lime Twist, Light Darling Duckling; and Light and Dark Poppy Parade; Sentiment Word Sweet – Dark Lemon Lime Twist.
  • The Apples were fussy-cut with Paper Snips and Sweet was die-cut with the small Tag die from the Layers of Beauty Dies set, twice to get the “stitching dots” on both edges.

All elements were adhered to the card base to resemble the sketch, and the Apples were popped up with Mini Dimensionals. 

A fun little card to make.
