Gallery Blooms – Happy Birthday

Design Team Time for the Atlantic Hearts Sketch Challenge (#657).  Lots of layers, lots of possibilities.

My design was influenced by: Inspiration Station (#79) for both the florals and the colors.  I made My Mark for Addicted to Stamps & More (#506) by using both Blending Brushes and Stampin’ Blends Markers for my coloring techniques.

Here is the result:

GALLERY BLOOMS BUNDLE – MIXED LABELS BUNDLE – SIMPLY SAID – AHSC657 – ISC79 – ATSM506

Steps:

  • Card Base: (8½” x 5½” scored at 4¼”) Balmy Blue cardstock.
  • Background Panel: (4” x 5¼”) Swiss Dotted patterned piece of vellum from the retired Vellum Basics Specialty Designer Series Paper pack.
  • Blocks: (4¼” x 5½”) Basic White cardstock.
    • Using a Blending Brush, the cardstock was colored with Balmy Blue ink.
    • The Decorative Label die from the retired Mixed Labels Dies set was die-cut four times and one edge was then trimmed.  Finished Size: (1½” x 2⅛”).
  • Shape – Flowers: (2¾” x 4¼”) Basic White cardstock.
    • The Floral image from the Gallery Blooms stamp set was stamped with Memento Tuxedo Black ink and colored with Stampin’ Blends Markers.  Colors chosen: Blooms – Light and Dark Poppy Parade and Leaves – Light Lemon Lime Twist and Light Granny Apple Green.
    • The Flower was die-cut with the coordinating die from the Gallery Blooms Dies set.
  • Sentiment Banner: reserved piece of previously Balmy Blue colored Basic White cardstock.
    • The Banner image from the retired Mixed Labels stamp set was stamped with Balmy Blue ink and the sentiment, Happy Birthday, from the Simply Said stamp set was stamped with Memento Tuxedo Black ink.
    • The Banner was then die-cut with the coordinating die, also from the Mixed Labels Dies set.
    • A little more Balmy Blue ink was added with the Blending Brush to the ends of the Banner.

All elements were adhered to the card base to resemble the sketch, and both the Flower and the Sentiment were popped up with Dimensionals.  A few Rhinestone Basic Jewels were added for a bit of bling.

A pretty birthday card.

  1. The Gallery Blooms are so pretty and I love the deep red, they would make a very festive holiday card too. I also like the vellum banner, it looks nice and sturdy. Thanks for sharing your pretty card with us at The Inspiration Station Challenge.

  2. Love your use of the polka dot vellum. It’s so pretty against the balmy blue cardstock. Great job with the florals. Thanks for joining us at Addicted to Stamps and More!
