Gift of Joy – Rustic Christmas

Design Time: For the Facebook Case-ing Tuesday (#540) Sketch.  Today’s card can be found on page 39 of the September 2025 – December 2026 Mini Catalog.  Switching from a Fall theme to a Christmas theme.

CASE: (Copy and Steal Everything) Making it the same; (Copy and Slightly Edit) Almost the same with a little variation; (Copy and Selectively Edit) Changing things.  You are welcome to choose how you create.

I was inspired by the Just Us Girls (#802) Mood Board with the rustic elements and traditional colors.

Sharing with Color Dare (#678) for the palette of browns adding Garden Green and Cherry Cobbler and Inspired By (#363) for the rustic napkin ring images and natural linen tones (variations of brown with wood).

Here is the result:

GIFT OF JOY – CT540 – JUGS802 – CD678 – IB363

Steps:

  • Card Base: (8½” x 5½” scored at 4¼”) Crumb Cake cardstock.
  • Split Background Panel: (3½” x 4¼”) Bauble patterned piece of paper and (2” x 4¼”) Striped Knit patterned piece of paper from the retired Warmth & Cheer Designer Series Paper stack.
  • Seam: (½” x 4¼”) Dark Wood patterned paper from the Country Woods Designer Series Paper pack, torn.
  • Shapes – Stars: (4” x 4”) Light Wood and (4” x 8½”) Dark Wood patterned papers, again from the Country Woods Designer Series Paper pack, die-cut with layering Star dies from the retired Stars Framelits Dies set.
  • Banner: (4⅜” x ⅝”) Garden Green cardstock.
    • The sentiment, Happy Christmas, from the Gift of Joy stamp set was stamped with Versamark ink and heat-set with White Embossing Powder.
  • Strip: (5” x ¼”) Cherry Cobbler Ribbon, retired, still in my stash.

All elements were adhered to the card base to resemble the sketch.  The smaller Star was popped up with Dimensionals and a few Pressed Flower Motifs embellishments were added to complete the card.

Changing out a design and making it your own is always fun!  I really like the rustic feel of this traditionally colored holiday card.  I hope you do too!

Looking forward to seeing how the sketch inspires you.

  2. Jolanda, your rustic stars and the little patterned paper ornaments show so well how you were inspired by the moodboard. We appreciate that you played along this week and that you play often at Just Us Girls.
