Winter Scenes – Noel

Design Time: For the Facebook Case-ing Tuesday (#536) Sketch.  Today’s card can be found on page 32 of the September 2025 – December 2026 Mini Catalog.

CASE: (Copy and Steal Everything) Making it the same; (Copy and Slightly Edit) Almost the same with a little variation; (Copy and Selectively Edit) Changing things.  You are welcome to choose how you create.  I decided to go with a monochromatic clean and simple design but keeping some of the texture.

My design choices were influenced by: Jingle Belles (#2522) with a Snow theme; Farm Quest Country Christmas (#25) with their Rural Holiday theme; and sharing with Inspire Create (#204) with a Christmas theme.

Here is the result:

WINTER SCENES – JOYFUL TIDINGS – CT536 – JB2522 – FQCCB25 – ICC204

Steps:

  • Card Base: (8½” x 5½” scored at 4¼”) Misty Moonlight cardstock.
  • Background Panel (5¼” x 4”) Cloud Cover Ombre patterned piece of paper from the Peaceful Garden Designer Series Paper pack dry-embossed with the retired Wintry 3D Snowflake Embossing Folder.
    • The texture of the Swirling Snow was enhanced by sanding with a Sanding Block.
    • The greeting, Noel, from the Joyful Tidings stamp set was stamped with Versamark ink and heat-set with White Embossing Powder.
  • Accent Frame: (5” x 3”) Misty Moonlight cardstock die-cut with the (4¾” x 2⅝”) Elongated Hexagonal die from the Nested Essentials Dies set.
  • Focal Image – Winter Snow Scene: (4½” x 2½”) Basic White cardstock.
    • The outline of the (4⅜” x 2⅛”) Elongated Hexagonal die, from the same Dies set, was traced with a pencil to give me the stamp area.
    • Two of the Winter Scene images, Cabin and Trees, from the Winter Scenes stamp set, an On-Line Exclusive product, were stamped with Memento Tuxedo Black ink with the aid of the Stamp-a-ma-jig Positioning Tool.
    • The scene was colored with Stampin’ Blends Markers.  Colors chosen: Trees – Light Shaded Spruce; Cabin – Light and Dark Crumb Cake; Snow – Light Pool Party; and some light Smoky Slate was added to the Bare Branched Trees/Shrubs.
    • The scene was then die-cut.

All elements were adhered to the card base to resemble the sketch.  The framed Scene was popped up with Dimensionals

Holiday warmth found in amongst the snowy trees for Christmas.

  2. Your monochromatic take on the sketch is absolutely captivating. The Misty Moonlight palette paired with the embossed snowflake texture creates such a serene, wintry atmosphere. I especially love how you enhanced the swirling snow with sanding—it adds depth without overwhelming the clean and simple design. The cabin and trees scene is beautifully colored and perfectly framed, evoking a quiet holiday moment nestled in nature. This card feels both peaceful and heartfelt, a lovely interpretation that honors the original sketch while adding your signature touch.
