Dia de los Muertos – Blessed

What fun!  I have been selected to be a Guest Designer for Color Throwdown this round.  The Colors are so fun and bright.  A ton of possibilities.

My major design influence was Park Hopping – My Happy Place (October) and the tradition of Dia de los Muertos to celebrate those that we have loved.

I am sharing this card with the Cookie Challenge (#209) Spooky Fun, Shopping Our Stash (#558) Hey, Ghoulfriend and Ellibelle’s Crafty Wednesday (October) Anything Goes.

Along with Heart’s Quest (#78) Black Heart (Nose); Triple B (October) Orange Flowers; Double D (#101525) Halloween Colors & Skull image; and Colorful Options (October) Black and Orange colors.

Here is the result:

SUGAR SKULL (DIGITAL) – AMBER AUTUMN – CTD843 – PHMHP October 2025 – CC209 – SOS558 – ECWC October 2025 0 HQCB78 – TBC October 2025 – DD101525 – COC October 2025

Steps:

  • Card Base: (8½” x 5½” scored at 4¼”) Basic Black cardstock.
  • Background Panel (4” x 5¼”) Black and White Striped Ombre patterned piece of paper from the retired Beautifully Penned Designers Series Paper pack.
  • Accent Arch: (3½” x 4¾”) Lemon Lime Twist cardstock die-cut with the (3¼” x 4½”) Stitched Arch die from the Everyday Arches Dies set, an On-Line Exclusive product.
  • Panel Arch: (3¼” x 4¼”) Basic Black cardstock die-cut with the (2⅞” x 4⅛”) Stitched Arch die from the same Dies set.
    • The sentiment, Blessed to have you in my life, from the Amber Autumn stamp set was stamped with Versamark ink and heat-set with White Embossing Powder.
  • Focal Image: (8½” x 11”) Basic White cardstock sheet.
    • I selected a Calaveras de Azucar (Sugar Skull) digital image found on Pinterest and printed it.  The image was colored with Stampin’ Blends Markers.  Colors chosen: Rose – Light and Dark Melon Mambo blended with a bit of Light Bubble Bath; Daisies – Light and Dark Pumpkin Pie blended with a bit of Light Peach Pie; Leaves – Light and Dark Lemon Lime Twist; Face – a combination of all three colors; and Skull and Teeth – Light Smoky Slate for shading.
    • The Sugar Skull was then fussy-cut with Paper Snips.

The elements were adhered to the card base with the Sugar Skull popped up with Dimensionals

Remembering important people who have touched our lives.

It will be fun to see what you create with the colors Lime, Pink and Orange.

Thanks for spending some of your time with me today.  Cheers,  Jolanda!
