Noel – Winter Scenes

Welcome back! I found a bit of time to create today.

We had a great class this afternoon…if you are local, you should come and have fun with us.

Combining the As You See It (#357) Color Palette and taking inspiration from the photograph with the Paper Players (#757) Sketch.

Here is the result:

WINTER SCENES – JOYFUL TIDINGS – AYSI357 – PP757

Steps:

  • Card Base: (8½” x 5½” scored at 4¼”) Secret Sea cardstock.
  • Background Panel: (4” x 5¼”) Secret Sea cardstock.
    • The sentiment, Noel, from the Joyful Tidings stamp set was stamped with Versamark ink and heat-set with White Embossing Powder and then dry-embossed with the retired Softly Falling Embossing Folder.
  • Circle Accent Mat: (2¾” x 2¾”) Cloud Cover cardstock die-cut with the (2½”) Stitched Circle die from the Stylish Shapes Dies set.
  • Focal Circle: (2¾” x 2¾”) Basic White cardstock.
    • The Winter Snowman image from the Winter Scenes stamp set, an On-Line Exclusive product, was stamped with Memento Tuxedo Black ink.
    • Color was added to the scene with Blending Brushes using Cloud Cover, Secret Sea, Timid Tiger and Pumpkin Pie inks.
    • Additional details were colored with Stampin’ Blends Markers.  Colors chosen: Park Bench and Grass Tufts – Light Pecan Pie, Lamps – Dark Daffodil Delight; and Snow Man and Snow Shadows – Light Cloud Cover.
    • The Scene was then die-cut with the (2⅛”) Stitched Circle die from the same Dies set.

All elements were adhered to the card base to resemble the sketch keeping the design clean and simple.

  1. Jolanda, I love the clean look created by the Sea of Secret Sea! LOL It does the same job as white! The matte of Cloud Cover works perfectly against it, too! Thanks for joining us at As You See It!

  5. Jolanda, the scene you created is the perfect example of a winter scene. While it’s rather dark and moody, the oranges in the sky and that cute snowman lighten the mood a bit. What a gorgeous card! Thank you so much for playing along with my sketch challenge this week at the Paper Players!
