Winter Scenes – Thinking of You

This week at Just Add Ink (#768), we have a sketch.  Taking liberties, I flipped the sketch to the vertical position.

Sketches are starting points, and my design choices were influenced by: Christmas (or not) Bingo (#15) Letter G selecting Kraft, Wood and Hand Colored Image along with the Farm Quest Country Christmas (#24) theme.

I hope my card inspires you and I look forward to seeing what you create with this versatile sketch.

Here is the result:

WINTER SCENES – BRANCHING OUT – JAI768 – CONBCB15 – FQCCCB24

Steps:

  • Card Base: (8½” x 5½” scored at 4¼”) Naturals White cardstock, retired but still in my stash.
  • Accent Mat: (4” x 5¼”) Crumb Cake cardstock dry-embossed with the retired Painted Texture 3D Embossing Folder.
  • Cross Strip: (1½” x 5¼”) Light Wood patterned piece of paper from the Country Woods Designer Series Paper pack.
  • Shape – Frame: (3” x 3¾”) Pecan Pie and Crumb Cake cardstock die-cut with the Frame die from the Framed Scenes Dies set, still available but of the Last Chance List.
    • The resultant (2” x 2¾”) Crumb Cake In-Set Rectangle was further die-cut with the (1¾” x 2½”) Oval die from the same Die set.
  • Focal Image: (2¼” x 3”) Naturals White cardstock.
    • The Winter Cabin image from the Winter Scenes stamp set, an On-Line Exclusive product, was stamped with Memento Tuxedo Black ink and colored with Stampin’ Blends Markers.  Colors chosen: Pine Trees – Light Shaded Spruce; Snow Shadows – Light Balmy Blue; Cabin – Light and Dark Pecan Pie; Windows – Dark Lemon Lolly; and Steps – Light Crumb Cake.
  • Sentiment Banner: Pecan Pie cardstock scrap.
    • The sentiment, Thinking of you brings joy to my heart, from the Branching Out stamp set was stamped with Versamark ink and heat-set with White Embossing Powder and then die-cut with the (2¾” x ⅝”) Stitched Banner die from the Stylish Shapes Dies set.

All elements were adhered to the card base to resemble the flipped sketch.  Both the Frame and the Sentiment were popped up with Dimensionals.

  1. Awesome sketch to use for ConBC #15 and for FQCCCB #24!!! Even the background ‘frame’s plaster texture goes with the snowy-covered cabin! Thanks x 2 for creating and sharing using the bingo board and anything goes country Christmas wintry outdoors theme! — Becca

  2. PS. Invite: FarmQuest HomeStyle Kitchen Challenges Blog has been ‘eliminated’. “Style + Kitchen” words have been taken out and it is a new FQHCB or FarmQuest Home Challenges Blog. #1 started on Sept 2nd and the theme is ‘anything home goes’. Anything inside or outside of a home that you’d typically find: toaster, sofa, porch swing, quilt, lawnmower, birdhouse, doghouse, etc. Whole house views like the cabin are part of the AHG theme. Hope you’ll stop by for a visit sometime! — Becca

  3. I really like how your very effective use of the sketch in a vertical position. The nature colors and textures highlight your focal point beautifully too. Blessings!
