Be Merry – Decorative Trees

Welcome back!  Wishing you a wonderful weekend and hoping you find some time to be creative.

There are a few Holiday challenges about, so we are going Christmas with today’s card.

Jingle Belles (#2518) to use only cardstock and Inspire Create (#200) It’s never too early for Christmas.

I selected the As You See It (#356) Sketch which I flipped to the horizontal position and the Creative Colour (#209) Palette to complete the card.

Here is the result:

DECORATIVE TREES – HOLIDAY INVITATION – JB2518 – ICC200 – AYSI356 – CCC209

Steps:

  • Card Base: (8½” x 5½” scored at 4¼”) Fresh Freesia cardstock.
  • Background Panel: (4” x 5¼”) Basic Gray cardstock.
    • The sentiment, Be Merry and the Stars/Snow image from the retired Holiday Invitations stamp set were stamped with Versamark ink and heat-set with White Embossing Powder.
    • The Panel was then dry-embossed with the retired Subtle 3D Embossing Folder.
  • Rectangle Shapes – Christmas Trees: (4¼” x 5½”) Basic White cardstock.
    • The Christmas Tree Outline image from the Decorative Trees stamp set, an On-Line Exclusive product, was stamped three times with Summer Splash ink.
    • Using a Blending Blush, Summer Splash ink was added to lightly color the Trees.
    • The Christmas Tree In-Fill image from the same stamp set was then over stamped with Summer Splash ink.
    • The Trees were die-cut with the now retired coordinating Tree die from the Decorative Trees Dies set.  However, the Trees could easily be fussy-cut.
  • Circle Shapes – Stars: Basic White cardstock scrap.
    • Using another Blending Brush, the cardstock was colored with Fresh Freesia ink and then die-cut with the Star die, also from the Decorative Trees Dies set.

All elements were adhered to the card base to resemble the sketch.  The center Tree and the Stars were popped up with Dimensionals.

Perhaps an unusual color combination for a Christmas card, but I like how the Basic Gray works for a nighttime scene.  Merry Christmas!

  1. The grey makes for a stylish background, while those little pink stars really pop on the Christmas trees. This is an inventive and unexpected take on the sketch – clever you! Thanks for joining in with us at As You See It.
