Layers of Beauty – Birthday

Welcome back!  Hoping you are having a wonderful Saturday.

Play time!  The challenges: Double Trouble (#198) and the 3-2-1 game (Layers, Patterned Papers, Sentiment) with a twist to create a Fan Fold and use the Try a Sketch on Tuesday (#677) Layout.

Additionally, I was influenced by Seize The Birthday (#312) to use Black and White; Festive Friday (#192) using Black and White adding Jewels and creating a card with a Flap; and Tic Tac Toe (#278) including using Stencils and Dies for a birthday card.

Here is the result:

LAYERS OF BEAUTY – UNBOUNDED LOVE – DT198 – TSOT677 – STB312 – FF0192 – TTTC278

Steps:

I followed a tutorial created by Patti Dolan on You Tube and you can find all the measures here: https://youtu.be/GGZRXuU29pk

  • Card Base: (8½” x 5½” scored at 4¼”) Basic Black cardstock.
  • Accent Mats: Smoky Slate cardstock.
  • Designer Series Paper #1: Black and White Leaf patterned piece of paper from the Botanical Textures Designer Series Paper pack, an On-Line Exclusive product.
  • Designer Series Paper #2: Black and White Floral patterned piece of paper from the Mixed Media Florals Designer Series Paper pack, also an On-Line Exclusive product.
  • Designer Series paper #3: White and Black Floral patterned piece of paper, also from the Mixed Media Florals pack.
  • Designer Series Paper #4: Smoky Ombre patterned piece of paper, also from the Botanical Textures pack.
  • Decoration – Roses: (4¼” x 5½”) Basic White cardstock.
    • The large Floral image from the Layers of Beauty stamp set was stamped with Memento Tuxedo Black ink.
    • Using Blending Brushes and the coordinating Layers of Beauty Decorative Masks, Smoky Slate and Memento Tuxedo Black inks were used to color the Roses.
    • The Roses were then fussy-cut with Paper Snips.
  • Sentiment Label: Basic White cardstock scrap.
    • The very pretty but retired Happy Birthday sentiment from the Unbounded Love stamp set was chosen and stamped with Memento Tuxedo Black ink and die-cut with the Label die from the Hugs Abloom Dies set, a Paper Pumpkin Add-On product.

All elements were adhered to the card base, as per the instructions.  The Roses were popped up with Dimensionals and a few Rhinestone Basic Jewels were added to the Sentiment Label, completing the card.

I do so love a black and white card and this fun Fan Fold is fairly easy to make and looks stunning. It is a great way to highlight paper patterns.

  6. What I have noticed in this challenge of using black and white, is that there is so much texture and creativeness in the cards made for this challenge. This card is a great example of that and you really put in a lot of texture and made an amazing card. Thanks for joining us at Seize the Birthday Challenge.
