Love & Courage

I am delighted to be invited to be a Guest Designer with Just Add ink for the next couple of months.  I am a regular contributor / player with this group of talented designers, so it is fun to be on the other side.

I hope my card inspires you and I look forward to seeing what you will create with these lovely colors.

My design decisions were influenced by Festive Friday (#191) choosing Shades of Blue (Cloud Cover & Lost Lagoon), using the Sanding Technique with Two-Tone Cardstock and adding several lovely Pearls.

I selected the Sunday Stamps (#367) Sketch to bring everything together.

Here is the result:

LOVE & COURAGE – JAI765 – FF0191 – SSC367

Steps:

  • Card Base: (8½” x 5½” scored at 4¼”) Gorgeous Grape cardstock.
  • Background Panel: (4” x 5¼”) Two-Tone Cloud Cover cardstock (light side) dry-embossed with the retired Subtle 3D Embossing Folder (a long time favorite).
  • Cross Strips: (1½” x 10”) Two-Tone Lost Lagoon cardstock (dark side) cut apart at (5¾”) and dry-embossed with the Glass Embossing Folder, an On-Line Exclusive product.
    • Using a Sanding Block, the white core pattern was exposed.
  • Focal Image: (4” x 3¼”) Basic White cardstock.
    • The Sunflower / Sentiment image from the new Love & Courage stamp set was inked with Gorgeous Grape ink and the ink was then removed from the Petals with a paper towel and replaced with Highland Heather ink added with a Sponge Dauber.
    • The image was then selectively die-cut with the (2½”) Stitched Circle die from the Stylish Shapes Dies set to only be on the “word” side.
    • The rest of the image “flower” side was fussy-cut with Paper Snips.

All elements were adhered to the card base to resemble the sketch with the Focal Image popped up with Dimensionals and several Basic Gray Pearls from the Basic Gray and Smoky Slate Pearls pack, still available but on the Last Chance List, were added around the “words”.
