Spotlight on Nature – Thinking of You

Welcome back!  Hoping you are having a sensational Saturday.

Play time!  The challenges: Double Trouble (#197) and the 3-2-1 game (Colors, Layers, Technique) with a twist and a share with Triple B (August) and Try a Sketch on Tuesday (#676).

Additionally, I was influenced by Inkspirational (#348) for the CAS Style and the Floral Twist along with the Color Throwdown (#838) palette and sharing with Ellibelle’s Garden Party (#6).

Here is the result:

SPOTLIGHT ON NATURE – BEAUTIFUL MOTIFS – DT197 – TBC August 2025 – TSOT676 – IC348 – CTD838 – EGP006

Steps:

  • Card Base: (8½” x 5½” scored at 4¼”) Basic Black cardstock.
  • Card Front – Layer #1: (4″ x 5¼”) Basic White cardstock.
    • The Floral and Butterfly images from the recently retired Spotlight on Nature stamp set were stamped with Memento Tuxedo Black ink.
    • The sentiment, Thinking of You, from the Beautiful Motifs stamp set was also added with Memento Tuxedo Black ink.
    • The Butterfly, Floral bits and Leaf bit were die-cut with the (2⅛”) Stitched Circle die from the Stylish Shapes Dies set.
  • Accent Mat – Layer #2: Basic Black cardstock scrap punched out with the retired (2¼”) Circle Punch.
  • Spotlight Circle – Layer #3: Previously die-cut circle image was colored with Stampin’ Blends Markers.  Colors chosen: Butterfly – Light and Dark Peach Pie; Blooms – Light and Dark Strawberry Slush; and Leaf Tip – a blend of Light Shaded Spruce and Light Old Olive.
    • To finish off the Spotlight Technique, Balmy Blue ink was added to the circle with a Blending Brush.

All elements were then adhered to the card base for a clean and simple card featuring Flowers and Butterflies.

  1. Jolanda, a perfect floral and stitched frame for your flower and butterfly spotlight, great coloring. Thanks for sharing your beautiful card with us at Double Trouble 3-2-1 recipe “You’re in the Spotlight” and nice interpretation of our sketch challenge at TSOT and using Twisted Sister’s optional twist to enter our alternate challenge at BBB. Beautiful.

  2. Jolanda, what a beautiful card marrying both Try A Sketch On Tuesday, and Double Troubles challenge elements! I really like that you added that touch of blue to the sky of your spotlight. Using a thin black matt behind the stitched circle really draws the eye. Thank you so much for sharing your creativity once again with both our challenges!!! -Donna
