Amber Autumn – Birthday Plaid

Welcome back!  Happy Friday.  Hoping you have great plans for the weekend.

Playing with Claire’s current color suggestion from Paper Players (#750) and the Seize the Birthday (#297) No Flowers theme.

Here is the result:

AMBER AUTUMN BUNDLE – THE RIGHT WORDS – PP750 – STB311

Steps:

  • Card Base: (8½” x 5½” scored at 4¼”) Old Olive cardstock.
  • Background Panel: (4¼” x 5½”) Very Vanilla cardstock.
    • Using the Light and Dark Stampin’ Blends Markers in the suggested colors; Old Olive, Blackberry Bliss, Cherry Cobbler and Pumpkin Pie, a loose hand-drawn Plaid pattern was created.
    • The panel was trimmed to (3¾” x 5”)
  • Accent Mat: (2½” x 4”) Old Olive cardstock die-cut with the (2½” x 3⅞”) Stitched Ticket Corner die from the Branching Out Dies set, available in September.
  • Sentiment Panel: (2¼” x 3½”) Very Vanilla cardstock die-cut with the (2⅛” x 3½”) Stitched Ticket Corner die from the same die set.
    • The sentiments, Happy Birthday and To someone worth celebrating every single day, from The Right Words stamp set were stamped in place with the aid of the Stamp-a-ma-jig Positioning Tool using Old Olive ink.
  • Decoration – Acorn Branch & Leaves: Very Vanilla cardstock scrap.
    • The Acorn Branch image, from the new Amber Autumn stamp set, available in September, was stamped with Memento Tuxedo Black ink and colored with Stampin’ Blends Markers.  Colors chosen: Leaves – Light and Dark Old Olive; Acorn Caps – Light and Dark Pumpkin Pie; Acorns – Light Pumpkin Pie with Light Crumb Cake; and Branch – Light Cherry Cobbler with Light Pecan Pie.
    • The Acorn Branch was then die-cut with the coordinating die from the Amber Autumn Dies set.

All elements were adhered to the card base and the Acorn Branch was popped up with Dimensionals.

A fun Plaid with a selection of Fall colors creates a nice background for this birthday card.

  1. I love the DIY Plaid you’ve made for the background. It’s the perfect way to include the colours. The plaid itself is great for an autumn card, suggesting a warm blanket on a cool night. The centre panel with the lovely leaf and seeds is very pretty. Thanks for joining in with us at The Paper Players.
