Let’s Go Fishing – Happy Birthday

Design Team Time: This round at Cardz 4 Guyz (#375), we must use Checks and/or Plaids when creating our cards.

Challenge accepted and my card was influenced by the Fish theme over at Cupcake Inspirations (#620).  For my card style, I opted for a Fun Fold for both The Male Room (#199) and Creative Creases (#104), re-creating the Book Bind Gate Fold pattern giving it a masculine twist.

Here is the result:

Steps:

• Card Base: (11” x 4¼” scored at 2⅛”, 3⅜”, 8⅞”) Pecan Pie cardstock.
• Inside Panel: (4” x 4”) Very Vanilla cardstock.
• Book Bind Panel: (1” x 4”) Fishhook patterned piece of paper from the retired Let’s Go Fishing Designer Series Paper pack.
• Gate Fold Panels: (1⅞” x 4”) Pecan Pie, Mossy Meadow and Misty Moonlight Plaid patterned pieces of paper from the Timeless Plaid Designer Series Paper pack, an On-Line Exclusive product.
• Flap Accent Mat: (3” x 3”) Mossy Meadow cardstock.
• Focal Flap: (2¾” x 2¾”) Very Vanilla Linen Textured patterned piece of paper, also from the Let’s Go Fishing Designer Series Paper pack.
• Decoration: Fussy-cut Fish from another patterned sheet from the Let’s Go Fishing pack.
• Sentiment Label: (2” x ⅜”) Misty Moonlight Denim patterned scrap, again from the Let’s Go Fishing pack.
  • The sentiment, Happy Birthday, from the The Right Words stamp set was stamped with Versamark ink and heat-set with White Embossing Powder.

All the elements were adhered and arranged.  The Sentiment was popped up with Mini Dimensionals, and four retired Rustic Metallic Adhesive Backed Dots were added to the corners of the Focal Flap.  An additional fussy-cut Fish was adhered inside the card.

A great guy birthday card, especially one that like to cast a reel.
