Summer Blue – Seashells

Design Team Time: This round at Cardz 4 Guyz (#374), our theme is Seashells and at Hand Stamped Sentiments (#465) we have three lovely colored Mood Boards, and I selected the Blue Water one.

I chose to use the sketch suggested by Retro Rubber (#256) slightly modified and to celebrate well-loved retired stamp sets to create the scene.

I am sharing this card with Time Out (#290) Pick Two: Place – Ocean Beach and Weather – Sunny Summer Day; and Colorful Options (June) and their Summer Blues Mood Board,

Here is the result:

Steps:

• Card Base: (8½” x 5½” scored at 4¼”) Azure Afternoon cardstock.
• Vertical Block: Basic White cardstock scrap.
  • The Driftwood Piling image from the retired Waves of Inspiration stamp set (circa 2022) was stamped twice with Pecan Pie ink and fussy cut with Paper Snips and adhered together to make the Piling taller.
  • The white space was toned down by coloring the Pilings with the Light Crumb Cake Stampin’ Blends Marker.
• Card Front: (4¼” x 5½”) Basic White cardstock.
  • Using Blending Brushes, Balmy Blue ink was added to the Sky Area (upper block); Azure Afternoon to the Water Area (middle top block) and Crumb Cake ink to the Sandy Area (bottom middle block and bottom block).
  • The Water image from the retired High Tide stamp set (circa 2021) was stamped with Secret Sea ink.
  • The Sand image from the retired Seascape stamp set (circa 2021) was stamped with Crumb Cake ink.
  • The Driftwood Pilings were adhered in place.
  • The Sea Grass image from the retired Oceanfront stamp set (circa 2022) was stamped with Mossy Meadow ink (creating the bottom middle block)
  • The Seashells image from the 2025 Sale-a-bration Friendly Seagulls stamp set was added by the Pilings and in the Grass.
  • The Seashells were colored with the Dark Petal Pink and Light Crumb Cake ink Stampin’ Blends Markers.
  • The sentiment, FRIENDS are like seashells…, from the retired Friends are Like Seashells stamp set (circa 2021) was stamped with Azure Afternoon ink.
• The card front was trimmed down to (4” x 5¼”) and added to the card base.

What a calming scene!  Shall we go search for seashells?
