By The Bay – Thinking of You

Welcome back!  We have power…and I am happy to be back in a lighted Studio and have access my computer to tell you about today’s card.

The name of the game is SPEED over at As You See It (#349) this round with a Water theme.

Can you create a card in 10 minutes or less?  How long do you think it took me?  I’ll let you know at the end.

I opted to play along with another challenge when considering my design.  Make My Monday (#253) is asking for Something Fishy, and I chose to share this card with Ellibelle’s Crafty Wednesday (June) for a cool summer blue card.

Here is the result:

BEAUTIFUL MOTIFS – BY THE BAY SPECIALTY DSP – AYSI349 – MMM253 – ECWC June 2025

The key to creating a quick card is to consider your design, arrange your supplies, have your necessary tools at hand, set the timer and have fun.

  1. Cardstock: (8½” x 11”) Night of Navy and a Bone Folder.
  2. Designer Series Paper: (6” x 6”) Blue Watery Wave Pattern from the retired By The Bay Specialty Designer Series Paper pack.
  3. Designer Series Paper: (3” x 6”) Gold Fish Swirl Pattern also from the retired By The Bay Specialty Designer Series Paper pack.
  4. Vellum: (3¾” x 5”) retired and in my stash.
  5. Gold Foil: (1” x 6”) scrap in bin.
  6. Cut & Emboss Machine / Stylish Shapes Dies: (2⅜” x 2⅜”) Stitched Square.
  7. Sentiment stamp mounted on Clear Block – Thinking of You from the Beautiful Motifs stamp set.
  8. Night of Navy Ink Pad
  9. Adhesive – Stampin’ Seal, Multipurpose Liquid Glue, and Dimensionals.

Steps:

  • Cut Cardstock in half for Card Base: (8½” x 5½”) and fold in half, burnishing with the Bone Folder.
  • Trim the Blue Wave DSP to (4” x 5¼”), adhere with Multipurpose Liquid Glue.
  • Trim Vellum to (3¼”) on (5″) side so the piece is (3¾” x 3¼”), adhere with a bit of Multipurpose Liquid Glue where it will not show.
  • Trim Gold Foil to (3¾”) so piece is (3¾” x 1″), adhere with Stampin’ Seal.
  • Stamp Sentiment below the Gold Fish.
  • Die-cut the Gold Fish DSP with the Square Die, pop up with Dimensionals.
  • And the card is done…

I set the timer, and it took me 7 minutes and 41 seconds. Two minutes, 59 seconds left on the timer from a 10-minute count down.

Thanks for spending some of your time with me today.  Cheers,  Jolanda!

Note: There was not a current sketch challenge that suited my needs, so I went to Pinterest to have a look. This was the sketch that I selected for reference.
